Best grinder for paper wheel system...

i just use a regular 1/2 hp motor that came from an old furnace squirrel cage blower which was belt drive. i made an arbor to attach the wheel to the shaft. if the motor housing is 6", go with an 8" wheel. if the motor is larger, go with the 10" set. you will need to have open shafts and no guards in place. here is a link to a vid of me sharpening a busse ash that belongs to macgregor22. he was running the camera http://www.myculpeper.com/rj/2008richardj4.wmv

I have my paper wheels set up on that buffer. The shaft size is 5/8 and I believe the speed is 3250 or 3600, can't quite remember. I will tell you it works great for me.

I bought it yesterday, mostly because it was on sale, and with coupon that I found, I got it for $32 bucks (plus tax). Mine is a 1/2 inch arbor

Got a free flashlight too. :D

I can already tell that a slower speed would be easier to control, and have my little brother (going to school to be an electrician) looking in to ways to regulate my super-cheapo buffer.

If I have to eventually pick up a better one, so be it. I wanted to make sure that I liked the wheels before I dumped a bunch of money into a grinder.

I've been looking at getting the Razor Sharp system but wanted to wait until I could get a variable speed 6" grinder. I found a 6" Delta at Lowes that goes down to 2000rpm. Just waiting for more stock to come in. :(
