I would like to find out who everyone feels grinds the most beautiful blades. I would have to guess the most common answer would be Walter Brend, although I would like to hear others?

Russ Andrews is one of the best grinders I have ever seen. I have never seen one of his knives with a 2" mark.

John fitch does wonderfull grinds, Russ Andrews, Greg Nealy, Ron Newton all do an exceptional job of grinding.

The late Bob Sidelinger did a super precision job of grinding as well.

Tai Goo.

If you go back a little while, Wild Bill Caldwell.

There are a whole bunch that I put into this upper echelon. It would take too long to list them all, but I will list Ron Newton, Jay Hendrickson, Bailey Bradshaw, J.D.Smith, Jerry Fisk and Michael Connor as being amongst the very best.

This is such an open-ended question that it's almost laughable. There are so many different types and styles of grinding that the question needs context: Hollow grinds (small wheel--large wheel), flat grinds, chisel grinds, dagger grinds, etc. ALL of these could provide the most beautiful blades--as determined by the viewer.

The area that really makes a grind stand out is where it meets the flat portion or another grind on the blade. Symmetry and flow and precision is the visual cue that defines this beauty.

Walter Brend is reknowned for his long sweeping hollow grinds, and what I have seen of them posted is justified in the praise. His work is not that common to see. Who can provide a good picture?

Mentioning his style, the two names that jump out at me are Neil Blackwood and Jim Siska. I offer visuals:

This must be *very* hard to achieve, because the look is pretty rare.

Coop

David Broadwell and Scott Cook come immediately to mind.

I must also second Siska. While I don't always like the overall style of the knife, I am never anything less than floored with the grinds presented.

Thanks Phil, Jim,

Just being mentioned in a thread like this makes the few hairs I have on my head stand up;)

Don Lozier does some beautiful work. I have one of his boot daggers that he did on a 1" wheel!! Absolutely beautiful!!

One thing to consider about Walter Brends grinds......

Yes, the ones on his large fighters are incredible. What I appreciate even more about his grinds is the way he can take the affect down in size and apply the same look to 4" or smaller folder blade:eek: His little neck knife is also a good example. Very cool that Mr. Brend;)

I appreciate all the responses.

Blade747,

I apologize my question is "almost laughable", next time either be a nice person and ask me to clarify it or do not respond to the post. Everyone else did not seem to have a problem answering the question.

Aww, you're just saying that because today is his Birthday! ;) :D

In all seriousness, Peter Del Raso is one heck of a grinder.

Knowing Coop, I know he didn't mean anything bad by what he posted, maybe he just didn't use quite the right words to express what he meant.

Anyway,
