Best groomsmen knives

The people who have suggested a Alox SAK know what's up. Classy gift that is quality and doesn't break the bank.

I'm in this same position. I'd like to spend a little more than what has been mentioned. I'm thinking like $70. However, I like the look of the Vic SAK Pen, easy to conceal, non threatening looking.

Of the ones you listed, definitely the cryo, however the alox SAK would definitely be classy, and very practical

Opinel No.8 Bubinga edition. Polished blade and hardware. Classic gentleman design, low cost, stylish. Get them laser engraved.

Any Alox SAK, they are made for that. My personal recommendation would be the Bantam. It has a main blade and a bottle opener... what else would a groomsman need. Plus it is so thin it disappears in the pocket. The only problem is that they are a little hard to find.

I plan on getting my groomsmen (6) and my father a knife. I would like to have the handle engraved, not the blade. So the handle needs to be metal, no plastic or rubber. Since I'm buying 8 knives (I can't pass up a knife for myself) it cannot be real expensive. I'm in the $30-40 price range because I also have to pay for engraving. Models I have debated are CKRT Drifter, Buck 327 Nobleman, Buck Spitfire, Kershaw Cryo, and SOG Fielder (found a place that offers to engrave the wooden grips). I wish I could afford to get everbody a Kershaw Leek, but I can't afford to. Any input on the models I've listed or other models I should look into? Thanks in advance

I would get them a Buck or a Case folding knife. I would not engrave them. Leave them plain.

You could get any type of a handle on a nice, simple knife if you do not engrave them at all.

I would prefer a traditional Buck or Case knife and I think that most people would like that for a gift. The people that you give these knives to will know and remember that YOU gave them the gift.

Best wishes to you and yours. Congrats!

Of the knives you listed I'd go with the Cryo . I have one and find the handles grip fine . Nice |Hinderer looks too . Other than that I'd say a SAK Alox Pioneer , always a classic . Congrats on the up coming wedding !

Wow, I appreciate all of the feedback. The SAK is nice suggestion, one I had not considered. I believe I'm suffering from analysis paralysis with all the choices. I wanted to keep the engraving simple, just initials or maybe 1st initial and last name. For my dad, I'm pretty sure I'll go with a buck or a case. He has an old timer he's carried for years.

Great. The nice thing about SAK's is that it can be appealing for non-knife-people as well while knife nuts can still appreciate and carry it as a multi-tool with their one-hand opening folder they're already EDC'ing.

Where does one get a knife engraved?

The last ones I got engraved, I just took to a place at a local mall that did custom engraving (primarily on jewelry). I forget the name of the place. 5 knives (also Alox SAKs), and I think it came out to less than $40. I just had the recipients' initials engraved on the back.

Depends on what you want.

Personally, I'd go with a Cryo II. But that amplitude looks good too if you wanted a less "tactical" looking knife. For a "dressy" knife, I like that one's simple lines and it's a frame lock.

Yeah, now I'm thinking I should stay away from the tactical look. Although the Leek still does looks very good. I'm not sure my groomsmen are the SAK or case folder type. That's why I'm leaning towards the kershaw amplitude, leek , CRKT Drifter, or the Sog Fielder with wooden grip. The fielder looks very nice, but I just don't know if the quality is there from reviews I've read. Most of the bad reviews are from 2-3 years ago, so the issues may have been addressed. I've also considered the Buck spitfire.
