Best gun cleaning spray

Just for cleaning, not lubricating, I like Hoppe's Elite Gun Cleaner.
It works very well IMO.
Of course Hoppe's No. 9 works okay too, just not as well as the Hoppe's Elite.

CLP is great for cleaning and lubrication.

Here's a dirty little secret from my past...
Back in the 9th ID at Ft. Lewis we would use Easy-Off oven cleaner on our weapons.

Don't laugh....it worked. ;)

Easy off oven cleaner is too brutal to use on fine guns.. that you've paid for.

If we're talking spray bore cleaners only, Kroil is a good one. Got my .45 barrel squeaky clean, after a 100% lead bullet diet.

for cleaning I use just the cheap can of aerosol CLP, gets the job done. I take Hoppes to the barrels... and Unk is right, CLP is liquid cancer

All I use anymore are the Slip2000 line of products. Their Carb Cutter, 725 Cleaner/Degreaser and particularly their Lube & EWL are simply fantastic.

The best combination I've found for gun cleaning solvents is Hoppe's No. 9 as a cleaner followed up by Break Free CLP as a lubricant. We tested them against a dozen or so different CLP's and they came away as the best performing. They're both from reputable brands that treat their customers well, and they make some darn good products for shooters.

An old mechanic who taught me everything I know about loosening rusted bolts and removing oxidated residues from metals in general always mixed 50% ATF with 50% acetone and probably had the cleanest guns and engines I'd seen before or since. He was also not a fan of using a lubricant oil on the slides or bolts of his firearm actions, preferring graphite grease at the wear points because "oil thins out and she drains away, grease stays put!" Film strength lessens the argument for grease vs. oil in some of the modern gun oils (Tetra?), but I'm sticking with what works for me.

ATF plus acetone is getting close to "Ed's Red" gun cleaner/lubricant/protector.

For the most part I think a specialized cleaner is better for cleaning and a specialized lubricant is better for lubricating. I use Ed's Red for cleaning and CLP for lubricating. I use something like "Sheath" for protecting.

I've read that some parts are better lubricated with grease and some are better lubricated with oil, although I'm not sure why in either situation.

Hoppes #9 still a good old standard ... Kroil and CLP are very good all in one cleaners ... I like Balistol on revolvers not so much on seni autos ... Slip 2000 Ive had decent results with but havent used to alot yet.

And for Rimfires I only shoot lead so regulary run Rem Oil and occasionally a good cleaning with Hoppes and a light coat of Rem Oil again ... was told by an old gentleman when I was young if I only used lead 22LR it seasons the barrel and he was right my 22LRs stay more accurate using only lead and Rem Oil.

Brake cleaner. Just ensure you remove plastics and wood. Also ensure you well oil and lube and protect afterward as it will remove everything. Eezox is the best protectant I've ever used.

Ammonia will damage copper. never leave ammonia on copper or brass. Use it then rinse it off !
For you techies ammonia forms a "complex" with copper .Back in the 1800s they found the then new copper and brass cases would crack .See - stress corrosion cracking, season cracking, . Season ? thunderstorms create ammonia that with stresses in brass will cause stress corrosion cracking .
