Best handle for Reverse (Fighting) Grip?

Knife fighting? Lol! That would be awesome though. That's why I carry a large spiked medievil flail...I suck with fighting knives.

Flail, I found a guy who makes modern maces!!! Trying to convince him to do a Morning Star

Pretty personal for best hand fit, and the TAC handles work well with me. Wish Busse would consider my design of an ASH blade with a TAC handle. Yes: the Heart A TAC. And knife fighting in general? A back up to my CCW only. Which is active 100 percent of the time I’m not at work.

Backwards grip? Thought you are supposed to hold the switchblade pointed out in front of you at arm’s length, tossing it back and forth from hand to hand to confuse your adversary. Like in West Side Story, right?

Crosier,

So glad you posted this. I felt the exact same way about the PR. In fact every time I show it to someone I ask them to try reverse grip and they immediately have a different expression on their face. It just melts into your hand.

Side note. Charlie Mike, that is a pretty epic stach.

I thought the same thing about the Park Ranger. I love how it feels reverse grip.

Probably the last application I consider, when buying a knife, is knifefighting.

IF I ever found my self in a pinch, and running away is not an option, I would use the grib I am used to. A normal frontal grib.
I use a knife in that grib every single day, and if my life depended on it, I would hold my knife in that way.
So, unless you are a skilled knifefighter, practicing knifefighting on a daily basis, using a reverse grib, would likely set you back in a fight.

Although this may be true for you and everyone is going to do what works best for themselves, I respectfully disagree with this as a general statement. I don't feel like I have to practice knife fighting everyday in order to take advantage of a simple horizontal slash across my body followed up with a jab with the tip on the return. To me, that "move" has very good economy of movement since you get two strikes or attacks for a simple back and forth horizontal movement.

I agree with this, CCW would be my go to in most situations. I cannot carry at work also and it drives me crazy.

But, things like firearm failure happen. Or you could be in a situation where the other person is unarmed and a knife is sufficient. Or collateral damage could be an issue with a gun. Just thoughts.

Another thought. When pulling a gun, no one really has any doubts as to why its there due to firearms mainly having one purpose. This immediately escalates a situation. There have been situations where I have pulled my knife and set out doing some mundane task like acting like I was cleaning my fingernails or something but I really just wanted to have it out because I was wary that the current situation could go south and wanted it at the ready and I knew that if I pulled my firearm preemptively it would have definitely gone south no question about it.

I am by no means the tactical knife fighting type but of all the blades I have the one that stands out to me as having the right balance and ergos to effortlessly switch from a forward to reverse grip is the Boss Jack. That thing is a bad little mutha. Granted, you aren' gong to me lopping off arms with it but if I needed to poke a whole bunch of holes in something in a short amount of time, it would be at the very top of my list.

I'm an ex felon. My bowie is my first line of defense if running isn't an option.

Learn it, live it, love it :D

And you look darn formidable with a knife. I'd say at realistic "contact" distance you get your knife in action faster than most armed with a gun. Plus, something about a big knife is scarier than maybe even a firearm for many people I'd say...at least at a close distance.

Yup! Even more difficult drawing a firearm from concealment to a shot in center mass given the time I can close distance.
