Best Hard-Use fully-serrated folder?

I've been whittling down my knife collection over the last year or so, but it recently occurred to me that I don't have a good fully-serrated folder. I LIKE fully-serrated folders, but when I use them it's usually for a day/job when I need to use a knife hard.

If I were to have only one fully-serrated folder, what's the toughest hardest-working, non-breaking, prying, digging, beating, hammering, dirt-in-pivot fully-serrated folder I could have?

The new foliage green ZDP189 Endura is an absolute beast. A true folding chain saw. Run up to Golden and have a look see for yourself.

I like the Spyderco Endura in VG-10. I did have problems with the Rescue in ATS-55. the tips of the serrations all broke off. No problems with the VG-10 though.

Well, one of the reasons I mentioned the D'Allara is that I won one from Mr. Fulloflead in a Cove give - away a while back. :) I'll be glad to send it back to him, though, if he needs it.

Well, it is an EXCELLENT choice!!

What about a Spyderco Rescue, or an Assist 1? Too bad the Manix or Mini-Manix do not come in fully serrated varieties!!

I can't tell you what the BEST is, but I'll tell what I decided on. :)

I've got some serrated blades - a D'Allara, some old ATS-34 CRKTs, a Gerber rescue - but I decided I wanted to EDC a general purpose serrated folder and see what, if anything, I was missing by being a plain edge EDC guy.

I picked up a Spydie Paramilitary. I'm still not sure if I'm sold on a serrator as a primary EDC - ask me in a month - but for a good sized, lightweight, rock solid folder, I'm happy so far.

It's not the cheapest, and it's not the most indestructible (that'd be, what, a FS Manix or Chinook, I'm guessing), but it's much lighter in the pocket than my Chinook, or (I'm pretty sure) a Manix or stainless Police.

I wouldn't have said this before owning one, but what it really makes me think of is a slightly smaller, upscale, high-tech Endura.

On Steroids.

With a full flat ground S30V blade and a Compression lock.

(Man, I can't believe it took me this long to get a Paramillie.)

:D

No way, man! It's yours! I may buy a drop-point version though.

I just picked up a fully-serrated ATR on Ebay. It's been a while since I've handled one. I'll check it out and then maybe trade it for a police. Maybe a G10 or CF police? I don't know. Maybe the plain steel ones are stronger.

Too bad the Manix or Mini-Manix do not come in fully serrated varieties!!

YEAH!
Maybe Sal can arrange something.

Spyderco is a favorite, but I often use my cold steel land and sea rescue knife which is about 90% serrated for heavy cuting jobs...and its easy to touch up on my sharpmaker...

I like my fully serrated Native, but not really the toughest folder you can get (tho I don't think it's as delicate as I've read others to portray it). I've been eyeing some ATRs, handled a couple, and they're quite beefy and I don't see them breaking easily. I also like the Gerber Hinderer Rescue...I like the additional features and really like the design, only thing is you can't use it for stabbing/poking at things, unless you sharpen the tip. I'm sort of deciding between the Gerber and ATR to replace or compliment my Native in my BOB.

I also just got (last night in my mail...whoohoo!) a combo-edge (wanted fully serrated, but not offered...keep in mind tho I'm mostly a PE guy...virtually all my knives are PE) Camillus Heat. I got a Sizzle for my dad and it was a sweet little knife. The Heat is awesome too! It's surprisingly not too big and the handle fits my hand quite well (I only have medium hands). I really like it.

Is Spyderco the main one offering full serrated blades? I know a few other companies (Cold Steel), have some too, but I don't seem to find this in many other brands (Kershaw, BM, etc.).

I got that fully-serrated ATR today. I forgot how nice these things are.
They open as smooth as a custom with the quietest "snick" I've ever heard from a production knife. I might still want a Police, though.
