best hardcore heavy use pants?

If you live out west, or are willing to order from a catalog, you should try the Ben Davis logger jeans. I have a pair I bought in CA that are made of very heavy denim, have double fabric from mid-thigh to mid-shin, and are riveted just about everywhere. They have some pants that are called jeans but not like the denim jeans most of us think about, and not nearly as heavy as the loggers.

I think David Morgan sells these jeans.

K. Williams,

That is the first place I saw them. I was always hesitant to buy them at that price without having seen them in person. I picked up mine at a couple of different surplus stores in the Bay area for a bit less than the Morgan catalog. Since they aren't available here I will probably order more from David Morgan whenever Iwear these out.

Hotrod,
The made in USA part makes them feel all the better.

I think all of suggestions have been great. I love the Filson stuff, but usually buy the shirts because I seem to be a lot harder on my pants.

DiamondCut jeans are USA made, have a gusseted crotch, but I forget if they come in black.
Carharts are too rain absorbent to suit me. You might consider hemp jeans. Orvis has some, not sure about colors.
Hemp, the original jeans material is far stronger, and snag resistant than cotton; softer hand too. Hemp was used for making sails, and some enterprising soul thought they'd make good trousers. Hemp is cannabis in some languages, and the word cannabis mutated to become canvas, so I am told. They are street legal, BTW.

i went ahead and bought the carhart black dungarees...
so what i would need is 32x24, wich i dont think they make. QUOTE]

When I worked summers on a farm I wore brown Carhartt double-front work pants in size... 32x34! I don't know if they make this size in black, but brown 32x34's were easy to come by where I lived.
