Best high end, medium sized EDC folder?

Another vote for the 0566.in its price range I can't think of anything better. Elmax steel and a sturdy frame lock. Smoothe pocket side, textured presentation side. The black wash finish sets it off to. It's a little tank. It kicked some expensive knives right out of my pocket.

Yep, ZT 0566:

In either Blackwashed or Stonewashed, you can't go wrong:

Thanks! I appreciate all the suggestions from everyone. Im leaning towards the ZT 0566, simply because it gets me closest to that 0560 design. But, ive been looking up each knife suggested in here to weigh all my options. I probably cant go wrong with any of these.

I like how the 0566 gets you almost the same knife as the 0560, but for nearly $100 less. The only difference I see is the stainless steel half of the handle, rather than titanium.

The 0560 also has a bearing pivot, while the 0566 is a spring-assisted opener (though word of mouth says it flips fine de-assisted as well).

ZT 0801. All titanium frame-lock flipper with 3.5 inch Elmax blade. It can be found for around $150.

Why do so many knife experts hate spring assisted open knives? In all the video reviews people keep making a big deal about how nice it is to be able to remove the torsion bar from the 0566.

I'm a fan of the BM 940 and 710 with M390, lands right at $200. If you keep an eye on the exchange, you can possibly land a 940-1(cf &s90v) for sound $200.

Well its mostly personal preference. A lot of people like them and a lot of people don't. Normally with assisted knives you can't deassist them, but ZT put detent holes in the blades off the 0566 so we can deassist them if we want (THANK YOU ZT)

Some great suggestions in here makes me want to buy another knife (big shock right?)
I have a ZT 0550 which I love, but want to get a "slimmer" knife such as one of the the Spydercos.
What the biggest difference between the Domino, Caly3, and Sage in terms of EDC niceness?

Thanks

I think the quality difference between a $20 knife and $115 knife is much more evident when its a manual knife. I think that knife enthusiasts generally associate assisted knives with "cheap."

For me, it just depends on the knife. Once broken in, I love the way my ZT0566 opens manually either with the flipper or thumbstud. My ZT0770, however, I much prefer with the assist.

Spyderco Manix…….Fabulous quality and value for money. US made, easy to carry and a joy to own. Try one you will not be sorry!:)

The Spyderco knives always seem too wide to me.

Not sure what you mean... do you mean the blade is too wide, as there are quite a few Spydercos with leaf-shaped blades? I suspect you don't mean that the grip is too wide...do you? Just asking.
I've had numerous ZT's and they are great folders. But my ZT 0550 grip width is 0.570"...that's pretty big.
OTOH, my Spyderco PM2 is 0.450"; the Caly series is 0.360"; the Sage 2 in titanium is 0.394"; the heavier-duty Gayle Bradley in M4 steel is only 0.525". Techno is 0.455"; the Stretch is 0.440". I've measured ALL of these with a dial-micrometer.

My guess is that he's referring to "width" as labeled in this pic. I don't know if that's the accepted terminology, but it seems to fit in the context of Spyderco's. The thumb hole does tend to require a wider blade which, on some knives, can increase the footprint in pocket.

Yes, thats what I meant. The leaf shaped blade with the thumb hole make them seem wider than most.
