Best hunter 2015 - FINALISTS CHOSEN!

Post 16, photo number 1...

This knife in my opinion, is the only one that's actually useable for field dressing...

I think others would disagree with you here. There's no need to be confrontational, this is supposed to be a friendly competition.

. . . and the nominees are:

Post 10, #3 Karl Andersen
Post 19, #5 Jerry Fisk
Post 25, #1 Mike Malosh
Post 28, #4 Sandro Boeck
Post 45, #2 Stuart Davenport
Post 51, #2 Stuart Branson

There some Good hunters in this group, some I would love to take to the field.

Hog, I' taken a broken glass coke bottle and field dressed deer before and I can assure you I've used other makers knives in the field to try them out. That's the fun, take something is pretty and use. No one wants to seen with ugly woman much less."..just because it is pretty does not mean it will not work well. Take another look at some of these makers.

Ok everyone, I will be closing the nominations for finalists this afternoon.

Every vote counts, and this is a very tight race to the top 5 so far. If you have some favorites, then please don't forget to vote!

This was very difficult, almost as difficult as the bowie thread.....maybe more so. Hunting knives are a HUGE part of my life and they are a huge part of my sales.

I tried to make my picks envisioning something I would use in the field to dress, skin and process game. I didn't necessarily choose the most elaborate or most decorated. All of the knives in this thread have a nice clean finish so that goes without saying.

Here we go:

Post #10, Knife #3- Karl Andersen:- Karl just flat out knows his way around a hunting knife. Rock solid construction, classic practical blade shape and a wonderful piece of ironwood.

Post #19, Knife #3- Jerry Fisk:- This is a classic design all the way around. Jerry's made this his signature hunter, for good reason.

Post # 21, Knife #3- Travis Fry:- Travis really caught my eye with this one, excellent practical shape and I love the sublte curves of the handle. It looks very comfortable and very practical.

Post #28, Knife #2- Sandro Boeck:- This is a cool knife, I like the fittings very much and the knife looks extremely comfortable.

Post #33, Knife # 1- Eli Jensen:- I love the blade shape, handle profile and the wood for the handle. I really would like to hold and use this one.

Post #36, Knife #3- Haley DesRosiers:- This is probably the most elegant knife in the whole thread. I love the blackwood with the vine carving, perfect for the woods. The steel is REALLY nice and I love the overall shape.

Post #44, Knife #1- TK Steingass:- TK has been really on fire for a while now and I've become a big fan of his work. Nice profile here, nice embellishments in all the right places and excellent materials and handle finish.

What a great selection of knives we had for the First Annual Bladeforums Best Hunter! The competition was very close, and the finalists were all within a couple of votes of each other.
