Best Jungle knife - How much?

Ahhhh... got it.

Just pokin' atcha J... didn't mean to offend if you took it that way. :)

Lord knows I like my battle mistresses, but the ultimate jungle knife is a machete. Next best would be a large light bowie or golok. The Scrap Yard DFLE does very well as a machete. The RTAK does well as a jungle knife, too. The mistresses are just too heavy. When the NMFBM came out, I was hoping for a full convex 3/16" thick version, so I could have the finest machete ever made!:D

Have one of the NMFBM's thinned out for you. I think that a 3/16 mod would be awesome.

Before modding your knife, you might want to try carrying it on a baldric. I find I can carry quite a heavy blade that way and not notice the weight nearly as much.

Even after all that grinding, my DFLE would still be lighter. While not as stylish as the FBM, the DFLE is a perfect user. It can chop well, but is light enough for machete work.

Ha, I think only in Bussekin land would the DF be considered a light machette.

I need to get my hands on one, or possibly a battle rat, or one of the new Swamprat's 9 inch offering.

This is just conjecture but probably the Busse crew doesn't want to go thinner in a Mistress model than 1/4". Busse is supposed to be one of "the" badass knives in the world and the Mistress kind of carries the torch. If they went thinner, somebody would probably break the blade on some of the abuse that many people wreak on knives, especially Busses. Probably 1/4" is the standard because of the great resistance that these knives have at this spec. Just thinking out loud.

Sir,,you are correct,,, there are a handfull of Knob Creek NMFBM's that were .220 ,, they are so nice,, you can tell a huge difference just holding them in your hand..
