Best Kabar?

The Ontario Spec Plus line isn't bad for around 30$. I've heard of spotty QC but mine came out fine. The edge comes too obtuse, it'll need grinding down some. I also cut off the top of my guard. I'll try to get a picture of it soon.

There you go.

Nate 1714 I have the D2 impact spear point and feel it is a better shaped knife for general survival/woodcraft than the extreme which is more of a combat knife.
If you have read any of Ray mears books you will see that he recommends a spear point blade,The top and bottom of it is it depends what you want the knife for.I just wanted a mid size general duty edc that could handle abuse and that is what it is !!!

yea and spear points seem like that best stlye also...best for the karbar impact knives what is of simmilar design so maybe i can do a little of my own comparison i know (Camillus Becker Knife) is somewhat simmilar.
the Benchmade Fecas Gamer is more like it along with

Benchmade Nimravus Tanto which is diffrent style but very simmilar and im not sure if it would be better or now but the main thing is what is simmilar so i can do some info looking on it

I had a camillus and I broke it, but ive used ka-bar longer and never had a problem. Ka-bar also has better QC so you're less likely to get a bad one. Ontario has crappy QC from what I hear, and my camillus looked half worn when I got it...new....I have two standard USMC ka-bars, the tanto, fighter, the heavy bowie, and a short black ka-bar. All very nice knives. They arent the "best" but they're some of my favorites. Cheap, simple, and reliable.

I have had only two Ka-bars the standard USMC and then the KB-1271

between the two Im damn sure the USMC was Way sharper, dont get me wrong the 1271 is sharp but it doesnt live up to the standard that the USMC set. The only other knife brand that Ive seen proof of matching or beating that sharpness has the cold steel knives-- i never thought of testing my USMC on my arm air (shave test) probably would have done well it cut a paper i held at the corner with my index and thumb down the middle and didnt even dull, standard thin note book paper (which i didnt know until i was told by mother who i was showing this to that it dulled the blade)
So in short just pick up the ones stamped with USMC on them kraton is nice too

still Ka-Bar themselves

either the good old classic 1217, 1220, 1225 or if you fancy something more current-days, the next-gen 1222. don't bother the D2 extremes, they're too pricey for what you get for it (D2...tsst).

here is the link for the D2 is it worth it? compared to others

and what other knives are there with similar designs?

Dude, they are all so affordable. It would be a sin not to have one from every current manufacturer of the generic kbar.
The best leather sheath is to be found on the mil spec Ontario Marine Combat.
The best leather handle and feel belongs to the Ka Bar USMC.
Warning! There will be rusting along the areas where carbon steel parts meets leather surfaces around the guard and pommel of the Camillus and Ontario models.

Black KBD1 from Kbar ,D2 is way to much more cash compared to 1095.
If the next generation is 440A we should have used birth control.
