Hey guys! i hope your holidays are going well. I heard that the Kayne and sons blade tongs are some of the best, but when thinking about sizing I dont really know where to start. Should i go smaller and plan to us the handle steel for larger knives? or go bigger for the extra control on large knives? any help is appreciated.

Get some tongs from Quick & Dirty tools. One pair of tongs like z box type tongs will work. But a small set of tongs including wolf jaw, and pick-up tongs as well as a v bit tongs should be a good start.

For blade forging, a set of 1" Z-box ( blade tongs) is probably the most universal. As pointed out, a set of short pick up tongs and a 1/4" V-bit are nice for the other tasks that require tongs.
