Best Kershaw $50 Knife?

Well, the 3 knives you listed are different sizes, among other things. If I was looking to spend no more than $50 on a Kershaw, I'd probably closely check out the RAM & Groove. However, if you look around, you might be able to find a composite blade Leek or maybe even a JYD composite blade for a little more than your $50 ceiling. Those 2 sure are a lot of knife & performance for the price.

I got my composite JYD II for 50, a Lahar for 45 and will be getting a composite Leek in future for 53. I really think the JYD II Composite with D2 is the best bang for buck and my Lahar is the best cutter I own!

Not sure bout the D2 composite Leek though but I bet it'll be fine :)

It has the same blade as your D2 composite JYD & I believe they're the same price or less than the JYD composite, which is why I suggested it. Those 2 knives really are amazing for the price (JYD & Leek composite blade) & I wasn't sure if the Lahar can be bought for around $50 (Apparently it can), but that is also a very nice knife & nothing's wrong with its VG-10 laminate blade.

J Curd, slim jim and sockeye...Don't fear the flipper! Get a Blur, and practice with it for a while. With all of the options the Blurs offer, they are one of the best values Kershaw has going!

Just like the Lee Williams' flippers on the ENER-G's, they just take some getting used to!

Only reason I'm not sure is not cause of the steel, I'm genuinely pleased with my JYD II C-D2 that I'm sorta in love with the steel! My uncertainty (with the Leek version) is with the blade profile, handle profile, handle material, the feel of using it and blah blah blah....

I gotta say it again, great price for my Lahar and JYD II C-D2. Sometimes I just smile and admire my boys for the giving me so much bang for my exchange-rate-challenged buck :)

Question CL01, is the Lahar's a laminate? I got mine from Bladeforum's for sale section and nothing said it's a laminate (great if it is!)? I'm gonna fish out my Lahar from my office safe tommorow to check it out again!

(The Lahar has a great profile for cutting and the liner lock is one of the most secure (the JYD IIs are better and almost frame locks!) I've owned so far!!! Love the VG-10!)

$50 or so buys a lotta knife when you're talking Kershaws. :) My current favorite is the Shallot, I knife I like tremendously. But the JYD II and ENER-G II are outstanding knives as well. It seems like a lot of folks still haven't realized just how good these Sandvik-bladed Kershaws truly are; these are very high quality pieces at incredibly reasonable prices.
