Best kershaw for an electrician?

I'd go with Needs Work too - I use mine quite a bit stripping and slicing and haven't given the blade any attention.

I am an electrician also. I used a kershaw storm for a year or so and found that it was great for stripping wire but the extreme recurve was a PITA for me to sharpen at the time(sharpmaker has solved that problem). I typically dont like serrated blades but have started using a partially serrated spyderco endura or military(not kershaw like you asked but it works for me)because the serrations rip through 1/4" nylon rope like crazy. If you have ever tried to cut a rope that has been in a dirty, muddy underground conduit you know how bad it can wreck a nice edge but the serrated part of the blade handles it without a problem and stays sharp for a remarkably long time.

My experience mirrors yours. I'm an electrian too. Over the years I've carried a Kershaw Blur in s30v which worked great for most electrical tasks, although I found I like a little more "meat" in the handle for stripping the really big gauge wires. I've also started to carrry a second hawkbill ,fully serrated knife by another knife company, for cutting mule tape. Works great.

I am not an electrician but I worked with a relation that is an electrician for a time and I do still work with a lot of CAT5 and find myself doing some cabling at times. I have to second the suggestions of the Needs Work.

For other options I liked the Scallion model and found it quit suitable for splitting and cleaning the insulation off of wires. The slight recurve in the blade is helpful in those tasks. If you want to go full recurve and a little larger, a plus my friend and I found useful at times, the Talon is a nice choice too. Although not available during my electrician helper days, I would have also tried the big fat blades on the half-ton or the one-ton. While I don't find any blade play in my versions of the models above, if you really want to avoid it, you might want to try one of the 1080 fixed blade skinners. The orange handled version would even help you find it at the end of the day.

I work in Electronic engineering and the Storm 1470ST works wonders. I use the serrations for stripping even the smallest wires. I also use the scallion a time or two.

The serrations really work wonders on the larger gauge wires too. Insulation just flies off.:D
