Hey guys. i was wondering what you think is the best key chain knife. I like the spyderco lady bug, man bug, and jester but what would you recommend.
Let me know if you have one you would trade for a lnib kershaw leek ss
thanks

I ordered a Cold steel recon 1 micro once. pretty good little blade but after I got it I realized it was a little too small for me. I usually carry a regular folder, leatherman, and a spydercard in my wallet so I don't need another knife on my keychain.

Victorinox Classic. I use the tools all the time. "Small" blade is quite capable.

I don't know why you would need anything other than a Jester or Ladybug tbh. I've got one of each, a G-10 Jester and a ZDP Ladybug and swap them out on my lanyard every month or so and they take care of all my small knife needs. Maybe if they came out with a G-10 version of the Ladybug, I'd be tempted but right now I am absolutely taken care of by those two.

Although if you wanna go a bit bigger, the Spyderco Co-Pilot is another of my favorites. I'd recommend the MeerKat as well, but it doesn't have a lanyard hole so that limits it's use a bit. To me, Spyderco is one of the better companies for small knives because thye design their small knives as small keychain knives instead of just sizing down some of their more popular knives.

Although if you want something cheaper, then I agree with the above poster, a Victorinox is also a great little knife that can just hang out with your keys.

I think a spyderco ladybug in zdp-189 is the perfect keychain knife. Keep it oiled to prevent rust and you wont have to sharpen it for months at a time, its the perfect size, and zdp-189 is my third favorite steel on the planet, behind s35vn and 14c28n

Vic Alox Classic. Or an Alox Rambler (if you can find one and are willing to pay for it). AG Russell Ultimate Pen Knife is also nice. If you don't mind the size, the Spyderco Ladybug does give you some more steel options (ZDP, H1) and blade styles (SpyderEdge, hawkbill).

the cold steel micro recon is awesome for a keychain knife the thing that sets it apart is the triad lock so it super solid no blade play.

Another vote here for Vic Rambler. It disappears in your keys, especially the alox version.

My favorite keychain knife is a spyderco cricket. Super old ats-55 model. Sports a cool recurve 's' shape perfect for cutting a thread, or maybe opening a chip bag, or as an impromptu letter opener. About all you could ask (or should ask) of a keychain knife. Anything more, my sebbie25 will get the call.

SAK classic is on my keychain because I EDC a SwissChamp in a belt sheath. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping a SAK Minichamp on my keychain though as it has a bit more functionality. It essentially has the only tools I need for work which is basically a phillips head

Mercator Kat knife
if Im gunna have it its got to be useable size

I love my Ladybug in foliage green. But I'm thinking of adding a Vic classic so I don't have to carry my Leatherman all the time. This is after I already separated my keys to make them more pocketable.

This is my EDC. Quarter added for scale. You don't even notice the Classic on the keychain really.

A note. It's black and not matching my SwissChamp because my first knife ever that I can't find was a black Classic.

Ix-nay on the Assic-clay!!

I get about 12 to 18 months on a key ring before they croak. I'll never buy another.

Huge fan of the Leatherman Micra as a companion to an EDC folder. I use the scissors a LOT. As in all the time lot. Use the cap lifter too.

Best advice I ever got on these things was to tak them off the king and put it in the other pocket. I refused to be one of those people who carried 2 knives. Then I was at a party in front of a barrel of iced Ales with no bottle opener and I had to go schlepping around the hosts house looking for my keys. The Micra has been in my LFP ever since. I end up using something like a 100 times more often now that it's in my pocket and not tethered to my keys.

RFP: locking folder and change.
LFP: Micra and money clip.

I'd say my favorite keychain knife is the Leatherman Squirt PS4, except that the knife blade is perhaps the only tool I never use on it. Apart from that, I don't really need a keychain knife. I've always got another blade or 7 on me, and I've already gone enough junk on my keychain. I've been tempted to pick up a Spyderco Bug though...

Kershaw Two Can Aluminum Knife Also Scissors for under 20 bucks, not a bad way to go.

Another vote for the 58mm SAK. A classic, rambler, manager, what ever your own taste goes with. I've carried a classic for many years now, and it's a handy little sucker. I've actually fixed a lot of stuff with just the little SD tip on the nail file. I'll go look over a repair job to see what tools I'll need, and most times I see those small phillip's screws that hold the whole world together these days. The SD tip fit them perfectly. I've replaced a broken latch on the clothes drier door, fixed the twist grip control on an electric trolling motor, fixed a problem with a Vespa motor scooter in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road with the small SAK. And the knife blade actually does cut things and open UPS boxes. The scissors work very well, nd the tweezers has picked a thorn out of our welsh corgi's paw out in the woods. I fixed up a leather pouch sheath to go on my keys so I can just pull out the classic and go to work. No matter what knife of the day I have in a pocket, I won't go without my classic.

I think my only problem with the Classic is the key ring location. I'd probably end up getting a case like you have there so I can take it out. I also found the SD tip quite handy.
