Some of you will remember this blade I finished about 2 months ago.

It's for a customer in Israel that wanted something like this one.

If you want to see how I made this one, check out this page:

But gave me free reign on the creative aspects of the project.

This is what I have so far (I'll get much better pictures once I finish the wooden scabbard)

Bronze/stainless mokume habaki

Ariel, you are one of the most talented and imaginative makers there is out there--Beautiful work-:thumbup::thumbup:-Butch

I love it. About the only thing I would want different if it was for me, would be a different color handle material. Either wood, or subdued earth tones micarta if it was going to be a user. That blade pattern and the Tsuba etc all have enough great colors and patterns in it. That is one lucky customer.

Very nice work. The original one always caught my eye, but this one is outstanding especially given the detailed work on all the fittings.

Thanks! I'll have it fully finished next week and then I'll get really nice pictures of the entire piece.

I do have 2 more on order, so you guys will be seeing more of this style in some months :)

I would say that you document, and evolve from your past work . By producing all the material to complete a knfe yourself, your work is not an easy task. You are in a class of those who do most everything to make fine cutlery. Not many out there doing this arduous work.

So I finished it :D

San mai damascus from a motorcycle chain with a 5160 core.
13 3/4" overall length, 8" cutting edge, 8 3/4" from tip to tsuba. 1/4" thickness. Hand made micarta handle. Bronze / stainless steel mokume habaki and decorative pins. Bronze / copper mokume tsuba. Dyed and lacquered maple saya.
