Hey, if people can ask about the best knife for fighting a bear...

I just spent four hours helping my dad dig a stump out of the ground (motherf***ing contractors buried the thing in a wire basket--the roots strangled). And as I sit here aching, I can't help but think that the whole job would've been much easier if only I'd used a $500 knife to do it.

Any suggestions?

Last summer, when clearing the driveway for our new house, I used a John Deere Tractor, a double bitted axe and a shovel to try and get the last stump out of the middle of the driveway. All failed to move the offending stump. After feeling the huge root underneath that pointed straight down, I pulled out my SAK Farmer, flipped out the saw, and had the stump out in 5 minutes.... true story.

A 3/4 stick of 60% stumping dynamite should do the job just fine.:D

A nice forged pick ax with oak handle should get it out...Oh yeah, and a lot of sweat! :D

Stumpgrinder - one of my favorites :D.

Hey, I was digging a pit for a rocket stove to put under and outdoor bathtub at my friend's camp/homestead lst week. Rocky soil. I used the First Strike to get under some rocks and stepped on it to pop them out. I also dug up several bushes with hard wood roots with it -- it went superbly!

After all the knives I have owned, this one would be my first choice for bugging out if TSHF...

It is stout, flat ground, thick, yet cuts like, um, a knife!
