Best knife for EDC or just in general?!?!?!

Spyderco Endura

Manix 2 XL.

Ambidextrous, S30V, Great gimping, g10 handles, slim pocket presence.

My personal favorite EDC for 6 months strong.

I might like small today, serrated tomorrow, and big the next day. So I don't even agree with myself - much less anyone else.

^^^ This.

Most days, I'm carrying the SAK plus one of the locking folders from the below, but I also have dozens of others that get rotated in and out.

Each person's parameters for defining "best" are different, so there really is no such thing as an objective "best" knife under $100. I might like small today, serrated tomorrow, and big the next day. So I don't even agree with myself - much less anyone else.

HAHAHA So true SOOOO true lol ^5

All are fine knives. I'm just looking for one now that meets the following criteria:
1. axis style lock (for ease of flicking opened and closed, plus its a very strong lock)
2. 154cm or equivalent steel (found its fairly easy to sharpen and holds an edge)
3. flat handles/scales (don't like the knife to be too fat or noticeable in the pocket)
4. drop point or spear point blade
5. hollow ground
6. left hand friendly

anyone have any good suggestions, let me know!!! Thanks

I'd take a look at the Spyderco Manix line of knives. Many different steel options, different colors, different handle materials. Some of 'em are hollow ground, some are flat ground. The lock isn't an axis lock, but the way you engage the lock is the same. If you really want an axis lock, then you'll only be able to look at Benchmade.
Some Chinese knives have axis-type locks, but don't fit the bill for your preferred type of steel.

I was blown away by the lightweight Manix 2 in blue with CTS-BD1. Loved it quite a bit, because it's so lightweight, the BD1 is very rust resistant as far as I've noticed and holds up OK. I still have it but stopped carrying it because I found it too big, not too big for me, but with regards to a knife unfriendly environment in my country. Still like it though, I wish I could carry it more without worrying.

For me I rotate my knives, they must be paper splitting sharp, look good, feel good and be awsome. I have several and I use them all, Hinderer, Stryder, Microtech, Spyderco, Case on and on.

Get yourself a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 and you have it all, well until tomorrow!

This question is along the lines of what is the best car for everyday, or best gun to carry, etc....

The best way to put it is that there is a type of item [knife, gun, car], that fills a certain role the best. My BK9 chops a hell of a lot better than my BK5, and my Delica 4 EDC's a lot easier than my Adamas 275.

Just like my pick up truck hauls cargo a lot better than my Yaris. My Yaris is great for commuting, but my SUV is much more comfortable to drive long distance than my Yaris.

My M4 is great for engagement distances from 50 yrds-200 yrds (ish) even though I can reach out to 600 yrds, but my r700 is much better at hitting stuff at 300 yrds+.

Have a knife to fill a role, but it gets expensive when you start making subsets into that role. For example, I like my Adamas 275 when I'm wearing thick denim since the pocket can support the weight, but for khakis, my Manix is better, and my delica 4 and benchmade embassy is great for dress pants. My Salt Pacific is great in board shorts while surfing, but I like my Loan Wolf Skinner (N680 steel) when fishing since it is a fixed blade and I don't have to worry about gunk in the pivot or rust.

etc, etc...

But it seems that the consensus is the Spyderco Manix 2. (Get the XL, IMO)

It's funny because alot of people recommended the Spyderco manix 2 to fit my bill, and I ended up getting one! lol I love it, its an awesome knife, easy to use, solid build and nice blade. (does anyone know what angle the edge is for sharpening?) I really like this knife. Someone did mention the Benchmade 530, I did have one of those before and I loved it but lost it! Might end up getting another one!!! They are only around $75 that is.

I've had a numerous amount of knives, lol... Each one I say can fit the bill...

Benchmade HK 14205 or 14210 just about fits that bill perfectly.

For me, it is a 4 way tie: William Henry, XM-18 3", Sebenza, and BM RitterMini-Grip. That is why rotation was invented. :)

I rotate my knives depending on what I am wearing and how much I want to conceal the knife, local laws for that area, etc. There is no perfect EDC, though I definitely been looking for one.

Ka-Bar Dozier: Newest member to my collection, I love this knife my 2 biggest issues is the black coating on the blade started to chip off cutting cardboard the first time and it's not a 3in blade (tip to handle) its a bit longer than that. It is a 3in usable blade, that matters to me as I rather not break local knife laws. Can't risk it with profession I am trying to get into. Though I love how sharp the blade is, as well as blade shape it just feels effortless to cut things compared to the rest of my collection I normally carry. The grip this knife has is outstanding along with how lightweight it is. I do not know it is there till I need it, there is a reason why this is my favorite. I will probably end up picking up the mini Dozier.

Ka-Bar 2810 (though looking up model number pulled up an old knife which this isn't): Good EDC knife minus the serrated edges which catches on things instead of cutting, but easy to coneal in top front right pocket in blue jeans when you don't want to risk drawing attention that your carrying a knife 2.5in blade.

Gerber Evo Jr: Thin lightweight knife, carry it when I want something that just disappears in my pocket and I won't notice it till I need it, though it has no grip on the handle and your hand tends to slide. CRKT m16 was suppose to replace it but the locking mechanism gets stuck on it so I refuse to carry it as I need a coin or screwdriver to free up the liner lock so I can close it, which happens every time I flick open the knife "too fast".

Kershaw Black Horse II: Big work horse knife I carry in the belt sheath when I know I have work that needs to be done, I feel it's an insult to not use and abuse this knife. Where as I tend to baby the others.

Leatherman Micra/Swiss Army Knife (small): 2 keychain knives which I may have used the blades on them a few times, but the multi tools several times. I carry them everywhere I go.

There are no " best knife in general ".
But there are some knives considered " best for edc " and in my opinion the Benchmade mini griptilian is the best.
Especially with the Doug Ritter blade and some custom handles. ( Wilkins FTW )

In my opinion the spyderco paramilitary 2 if you are willing t stretch that $100 out a bit. At around $130-150 you can't beet it. Reason being: it's tough, durable, fairly easy to sharpen, it just gets the job done, and its made in the USA.
This knife is made to use and will not fail. It's easy to open/close right or left handed.
Anyway that's my 2 cense.
