Best knife for what function under fifty bucks?

Do you want a fixed blade? Mora Classic 1 or BK14.

Folder? Opinel #8, Kershaw Cryo.

FYI, do a little search and you'll find more input and info on this subject than you can ever process, as this topic has been beaten to death!

and, not trying to be an ass, but "best knife" is a pretty broad spectrum as there are many classifications of knives. are you asking about a folder? fixed? traditional? narrowing this down a bit would yield better results.

Every day a new topic like this.
Sorry its stupid and extremely boring.:grumpy:
Like already said, best doesn't exist without a good reference.

Bk14 (ka-bar Becker Esee collaboration) w/ production black and orange scales.

I'm partial to the Byrd lockbacks with textured FRN handles. Most sell for under $30, but I've occasionally seen them on sale on eBay for under $20 shipped. I've given away about a half dozen of their serrated hawkbills to lady friends. I highly recommend these knives.

Idk, I reckon for around 50$ there are options like one hand opening folder (like Ontario RAT), traditional folder (like Opinel) or fixed blade (like Mora)... The fun part is they're all excellent knives and in theory all three together cost slightly over 50$... ;-)

What usually happens in these posts. The original person asks, what's a good knife in whatever price range, or what knife should I buy out of these two, etc... and you don't hear from them again or don't get any pictures. Makes you wonder if they even check to see what people suggest

I vote for the Spyderco Tenacious. I like the design, it has reasonably good blade steel, full liners, G10 scales.

A lot of people like the Rat 1. I recently got to handle a Kershaw Skyline and it looks like a quality knife for well under $50.
