Best knife in freezing conditions?

i have found that vintage remington carbon steel sheath knives are true blue in this respect.

I don't do as much winter camping as I used to, but a good cold weather knife candidate is the Mission MPS-10 made of beta hardened Titanium. It is pretty much immune to cold cracking.

Cold Steel TwistMaster...easy to open, close, lock, unlock even with the heaviest of gloves on.

Until you posted this picture I'd forgotten I have two of these, large and small. Lock would be easy to manipulate with golves, no doubt. First time I ever used the large was for cleaning some fish. Rinsed it off and attempted to shake some of the water off. Lock was not engaged and the blade snapped back on my thumb, cut it pretty bad- took a longtime to stop the bleeding :o

+1 for ZT MUDD. We have been handling mucho snow and dealing with cold temps here in Merryland this winter and I've had the MUDD working.

Very easy to use with gloves, and no worries if you drop it in several feet of snow (which I've done several times now).

+ 1 on the ZT as well. I have heard ZT plans to discontinue it after this year :thumbdn:. I hope this is not true.
