So I know there have been dozens of topics on this but it seems like opinions change faster around here then my current lube drys out.
Do some oils work better for none bearing knives? And do others work better for bearings? Please tell me your opinions.

I work in an embroidery production factory and run machines and we have a plethora of different lubes here, and ive tried them all.

I have just been putting "lily white" emboridery machine oil in my pivots and calling it a day. Its basically the same thing as hoppes 9 gun lube.

Seems like lube,is lube, is lube... Oil really matters on a machine moving at thousands of revolutions a minute, but I think you can get by with anything on a knife :)

What do you personally use?

Liquid Wrench

Side question...

We have high viscosity (sp?) silicon oil here. Ive been told that its not good oil for knives. Does this sentiment hold weight?

I actually do use froglube.
Folder, fixed, stainless, carbon.
It's my cureall for lubrication and rust prevention.
So far it's made a noticeable difference in smoothness compared to several gun CLPs and even Benchmades Blue lube.
I think I'll be sticking with it for a while.
Hope this helps.

Me too. Seems to work best for me...

Lube is a touchy subject, especially motor oil. I don't know why but it goes on and on.

Because everyone has their own snake oil and method, and as usual, it's their way or the highway no matter what.

Used to be I just used Remoil wipes. Cleaned, protected, and just enough lubrication all in one convenient disposable wipe. Lately I'm using Tuf-Cloth and Tuf-Glide and have been happy with them. My CRKs generally get cleaned with the Tuf-Cloth or Remoil wipe and then I use the CRK fluorinated grease on the pivot and it makes them silky smooth. But I'm always trying new things.

I've been using this for a while, works great on my AR and the rest of my firearms, works great on my knives too. Makes all my pivots butter smooth.

I've been using Benchmade Blue for a while, but it clogs up the pivot after a very short time and doesn't work too well in my opinion. I have Nano Oil coming, I hear great things about it.

For me I think a lot of it is placebo with a few select few products performing better than others. I am going to get a full bottle of the all ready mentioned M-Pro 7 and try it out as the motor oil I have been using just smells too much like a dirty garage for my liking. The thing I dont like is that none of the "dry" lubes work as well as the liquids and the liquids never stay in one place long enough. And every grease I have tried in a folder creates too much stiction. In fact I would rather run a bearing knife dry before trying grease again.

I tried this stuff at wal-mart the other day. I was really impressed. It was the first time I had tried a lube and noticed a significant difference. its the slickest stuff I have ever tried and compared to many other "super lubes" its actually priced pretty good.

I have been happy with LPS spray. It dries out so no dirt collection, lubes well, and it does not leave oily spots on your pants if too much is in the joint.

The collection of debris by the oil hurts the action on my zt and benchmade more than being dry with no lube.

I use Eezox because it's hands down the best rust preventer I've ever used. I'm sure there are better options for the lube part of a CLP but I haven't had any complaints. Two drops in the pivot smooths everything out if it wasn't already and it seems to stay around for awhile too. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to attract pocket lint/grime.

My EDC is a ZT 0562 and for awhile I used 3 in 1 before switching to frug lube. Finally I got sick of it all and I cleaned the entire pivot and rinsed out the washers and have been running it dry ever since. Nothing to gum up and it's still just as quick to deploy. Mind you, this is the first bearing knife I've ever used for EDC.

Stoneproject - I am the Tajima (embroidery machines) Rep in the mid-Atlantic and I have used Tajima light machine oil on folders at the pivot for many years. It is colorless, odorless, and very light with low viscosity. Flows great into moving parts. It also resists building up or gunking up. I use the little capillary that comes with the machines to reach into the pivot. One small drop is all I use. Open and close the blade a few times to work it in and you're G2G. I like it better than gun lube on a pivot.

I've tried a lot of different lubes. For me, the greases all attract lint, dirt, etc. even the CRK stuff. I've settled on Nano oil for all my edc' sand to this point, it seems to attract less junk than the others.
