Best Knife Movie?

James H: It was Michael Rooker who stabbed the British guy in the leg with the Endura. Good flick. It is always fun to see John Lithgow play a bad guy.

The Edge was great as the knife was seen as a tool for survival.

How about "Blade" with Wesley Snipes? There are one or two good knives in there. Or the "Replacement Killers". A briefcase of blades, more or less. Although I can't remember them getting used.

My vote goes to THE EDGE. Great movie, especially since the knife was used in such a positive way. What a switch for Hollywood.

My vote has to go to CYBORG as well. That movie makes me want to strap on 5 or 6 good fixed blades, and go hit the streets!

My favorite comedy/horror movie. The soundtrack is hilarious, especially when he's running around eating people.

Well most of mine are already mentioned but the ones I had the most fun with were "GI Jane" and "Six Days and Seven Nights".

We had a chance to visit the set of GI Jane as it was filmed here in Jax. No big deal but it was cool. Then a few days later the prop master called and asked if he could bring some people over to our showroom in a kind of hush hush way. We said sure and a few hours later many of the actors from the film were at our showroom buying all kinds of knives, mostly switchblades

"Seven Days and Six Nights" featured a bunch of Machettes from Ontario and Spec Plus and a few others. Also Harrison Ford now owns a Benchmade Mini-Reflex

Iron Mistress comes in first then Exposure.
Others on the list:
Blade
Cyborg
Dune
Force 10 from Naverone

And the list goes on and on and on....

How about "Commando" with Arnie. The "Let's Party" line was interesting. If we're talking sword movies, "The Hunted" had some pretty outrageous fights, and some forging scenes.

Any one of Steven Seagull movies - he is the only Hollywood star that can actually use a blade (or a gun for that matter) without stabbing himself to death....

Now for the big question. Were is "Iron Mistress" available from. I have looked with no luck. Does anyone know of a place to get this movie?

Hi Cobalt, there is a guy on E-Bay selling copies of "The Iron Mistress". From what I understand, this movie is in the Public Domain so these copies are legal. I do know that this movie has never been released on video.

I rented 'The Edge' after seeing this thread. I have to agree that it's focus on the usefulness of the knife is refreshing.

The important thing to note though, is that the real survival tool was his mind, the knowledge that he had accumulated and his spirit to survive. This theme is seen in other knife movies like 'First Blood' as well. How many of us could survive with just the knife and no know-how?

Another good blade movie is 'The Princess Bride', very funny and great swordplay, and a scene where a knife is used as a tool....to cut the rope that the hero is climbing up! We just can't win...

Shogun Assassin.

If you get a chance to see it, check it out. Good action, effects and dialogue. I believe it's part of a series of movies, something like The Lone Wolf series. Has a heck of a tricked out baby carraige, blades all over the thing. Great non-PC fun.

There is a cool scene in Desperado where a hit man sent by one drug lord to kill Antonio Banderas' character uses throwing knives to good effect against the killers sent by another drug lord, ironically enough.

How about the Conan movies? Great swordplay if you ask me. Blade is a good one too, so is Crying Freeman. And probably a whole host of Hong Kong movies as well

Undersiege with Steven Seagal has some neat scenes with the Gil Hibben throwers. Steven Seagal is one hell of a martial artist, a shame that his ego is so huge.
