Best knife "scores"

Back in 07 before I joined BF i bought and sold on Ebay quite a bit. A knife shop in San Francisco had BM do a special run of AFCK's and the shop owner sold some on Ebay for $325. I got one and put it in the safe. A year or so later after joining the forum I took a pic of it and posted it in a thread in the Gallery section. Well out of the blue about another year later a guy sends me an email and offers me $800 bucks for it. I replied SOLD!:D

I was at a gun show, rooting through a box of cheap chines folders when I found a mint Spyderco Endura. The box said $5 but I figured it was a mistake. I asked the guy and he said, "Nope. 5 bucks."

2 days later I was opening a plastic bottle of dry gas and needed to get the foil off the top. Since it was 10 below zero, I decided to cut it off with my new knife. I dropped it tip first on the ground and bent the very tip of the point. Eventually filed down another point but never the same.

Still worth 5 bucks though!

S90v milli used from alaska 170 bucks and a Dawson cowboy bowie that i call Excllibur because of its abillity to whittle off the edge of many highend knives for 80 bucks.

I guess my best "scores" were; 3 Case stag tiny toothpicks for $20 total, Spyderco Delica SS for $20 and an EK M-3 (Richmond made) for $75. I have gotten some other good deals but those are the ones I can remember.

Best deal I ever got was from an estate sale - All of these in one box..

1. Full-size leather stacked handle USMC Kabar NIB with factory sharpened swedge.

2. Rare? 70's Blackie Collins designed S&W 159 Skinner fixed blade with wessonwood handle - buried tang. Don't know much about this one - Local knife shop owner said he thought it was made by Gerber. Anyone know anything about these?

3. Well used Kershaw Roughneck. (Gave that one to by best friend - don't like top serrations)

4. Pristine Schrade USA PH1 Pro Hunter Ducks Unlimited

5. Pristine Schrade USA LB7 with the "Toyota" emblem on wood handles

6. Well used serial-numbered Schrade USA LB8 with stagalon handles

7. Well used Buck 121 Fisherman (Out of production)

8. Cheesy MTECH folder all camo. Kinda fun.

50 bucks for all. Best deal ever. :D

I was at an estate sale and saw what I thought was a Pakistani lockback. Turned out to be a very early near mint Buck 112 with the original sheath. Well worth the fifty cents I payed for it.

I've got many crazy deals from people on the forums here and at local shows. Just today I went to my local knife shop and they had something I couldn't refuse. I haggled with the owner a bit and came to an agreement on a total of $430 for a Chris Reeve Shadow 3 in great condition and a very nice 98' small BG-42 Regular Sebenza! I've also got an old school serrated Endura for $10, a Al Mar SERE 2K for $75 and lots of nice slipjoints from local vendors for cheap.

And now for the one that will probably make a few people jealous... I got a new ZT551 and a new ZT 301 for a combined total of $90!:D:cool:

Do giveaways and pass around lotto's and design/name ideas count?
If so, the Microtech MTX I won in a passaround was great, the Ti Tyrade I won guessing Thomas W's weight was great too, I won a few from Justin of Ranger knives, I gave Mike Stewart the idea for a mini Tusk, so he gave me a free one, (which in a moment of crisis I had to sell, which I still regret) and when I named the Acies, A.G. gave me one. :D
P.S. All the above makers/owners/etc. are incredibly generous people by the way, and make this hobby better just by being involved.

NIB gerber Paul knife Series 5 model 5 for $40 traded it for a new large sabenza plus $100
