Best knife to feature M4 steel?

I use tuff-glide on my GB. After over two years of use it has no patina. It's still my favorite edc. That and my southard.

I really like the Griptillian but I am still not a fan of the cheap feel of the handle.
There are a couple of guys on here who can solve that for you. Keyman and DeathOfAllThings can make a killer set of G10/micarta/C-Tek/whatever scales for you.

Good to know! I'll check them out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Although it was a limited run, the Spyderco Manix in tan and M4 is a fantastic knife. There weren't many made, so it's not as easy as some others, but they are certainly around. This is about a perfect EDC size for many folks. It's also a FFG, and slices outstanding. IMO, it is a TOUCH too small, but many folks really like it. I have one that I bought here on the exchange, so I know they are around.

+1

Love my tan FFG M4 Manix2. I have XL hands and have never thought of the Manix as particularly small, but I guess that's why they've come out with a Manix XL.
Anyway, they weren't rediculously expensive when available, but I haven't seen 'em at that site for over a year.
Failing that, I'd try a Gayle Bradley. That's actually what got me interested in the M4, but I thought I wanted a Golden, CO. Knife. Now, having tried a couple of their Taichung blades, I wouldn't hesitate.

I wiped a very thin layer of mineral oil over the Manix2 blade about a year and a half ago. I've used the knife probably a half-dozen times, and store it folded in the GHB in my trunk. Still looks new with no patina as yet. And still scary sharp!

Nobody's mentioned the Essential yet, so I'll throw that one in the ring. The ones I carry are great slicers for small FBs. BRKT's M4 works well with a hard strop and diamond spray. Out of the folders mentioned, the GB is my favorite. Spyderco does a great job on their M4.

I was fond of this LFTi with a Krein regrind. One of the best looking folders I've owned.

I've seen more than one of these pop up on the forum here.

You can't go wrong with either the contego or GB. But it sounds like you would be better of with the GB. I own both and the M4 is spectacular as far as edge retention is concerned. They are both excellent slicers because they are both very thin behind the edge. The contego is coated so you don't have to worry about staining, but I use Eezox on the GB and it still looks brand new. (I don't cut food with it though)

The GB has a grip that I find...lacking. However, it is a better slicer than the Contego and will have better fit and finish. The Contego has a better lock, better ergos, and a tougher blade geometry.

Contego gets my vote. If you can find an M4 710, that would be better for EDC.

The Bark River Essential is most definitely the best knife ever made using CPM M4... it will outlast, out cut, and totally out perform everything on the market, and I do own the Spyderco Gayle Bradly (nice knife) as well as two Benchmade contego's (love this knife)... almost forgot I own the Benchmade 760 as well (again very sexy knife), but they wouldn't stand up for a day against my Essential!!

You're comparing a fixed blade against a couple folders...

You can see it as a comparison if you like but, the person didn't specify fixed blade or folder so I assumed EDC, and the Essential is my EDC because although a fixed blade it is pretty small and I can't tell that I am wearing it even when I sit or lie down, and the cost is also comparable to the blades spoken about. I also mentioned a few other knives which I own and love but the Essential is my most honest answer.
