As much as I want to get a $100 knife, my budget just wont go there, so now my question is: What is the best pocket clip folder under $50 street price?

Alternately: If you had to replace your _________ (BM 710, XM-18, etc) EDC for <$50 what would you replace it with?

I'm leaning towards a CRKT m16-13z because I had one before with no big complaints. But I'm no knife connoisseur, but I would definitely be able to appreciate the difference between a great knife and a good knife. And I had a Buck Adrenaline SPX as well, and I didn't like it very much, wouldn't hold an edge, and was just too delicate.

I've heard the Spyderco's are great, but i don't want a lockback, I need to open and close one handed, not to mention, I'd DEFINITELY nick myself.

If you want one hand open and close---spend a few more bucks and get a Griptilian-----very slick and easy to open and close one handed---and it locks open.

How about a Spyderco Military? That IS a liner lock. OOOOPS, but about your price.

Without a doubt, I'd go for a Blackwater Gear 04140 Noryl Folder. It's, pretty much, a Benchmade Griptilian, made in cooperation with Benchmade, and unlike many of the BM red line, it's actually made in the USA. It's the exact same thing, and yet, I only paid $50.00 for mine (labeled $49.95).

Although they're not made in the US, however, the BM red line are nice. I particularly like the HK 14300S. Another great choice is the Spyderco Native FRN from Wal-Mart. Both of these were $40, each with their own pros and cons.

I also agree that the CRKT M16-13Z is a nice knife, despite having AUS-4 steel. Most consumers don't really care about the steel differences, and though I do care about it, it's still a great knife. It's a beater, something I can throw into a toolbox or my truck, and not worry about beating the hell out of it. I subject it to tortures that I'd never do with my Benchmade knives, and it has always worked great. And for only $30, it's a great consumer knife.

Out of the "cheaper" knives, a great choice is also a Buck fixed-blade knife. I'm unsure as to the model number, but it can be found at Dick's Sporting Goods for a mere $20. And I've successfully given it an edge comparable to Benchmade factory edges.

But, in the end, I go for my Blackwater / BM Griptilian.

man i think you want to look at wal mart. They have many high quality production knives from kershaw you might be interested in. Many of them are priced very low. 54 dollars for a tactical blur

Blade-Tech Pro Hunter Lite, Kershaw JYD2, Cam.Heat, just to name a few. Size matters too to help you with your choice. Also might find a Benchmade Mini Grip, and the Benchmade Vex is in that price range. GOOD LUCK! Kevin

Check out the Benchmade Vex. If I didn't carry my Sebenza or an Emerson, I'd carry the Vex. Street value is under $50 I think.

very nice knife..

I just bought a CRKT M-21 and I really like this knife. I haven't had a chance to eEDC it a lot but it is very solid feeling and a lot of bank for the buck. I paid $46 for it.

There are so any great knives for under $50. Here are my top picks (in no particular order):

1. Kershaw Junkyard Dog II
2. Benchmade Vex
3. Böker Trance
5. Byrd Cara Cara G10
6. Kershaw Storm II
