Best knife under $75

Spyderco Manix 2 came to mind first, followed by a saber ground Endura also don't disregard the Cold Steel folders entirely they offer a great deal of knife for the money.
 
I'd still like to hear from the OP what makes AUS8 poor for cutting wood. I apparently have amazing bushcraft skills to be able to use an AUS8 blade to do the tasks the OP mentioned :D
 
+1 to Cold Steel, their Recon 1 is practically indestructible for the price. I haven't found any problems about Aus-8 being slippery either?
