Best knife you have lost!!!

My favorite knife was not actually lost but it was damaged. It was Buck 121 and someone, behind my back during a camping trip, used it as a screwdriver or crowbar and broke the tip and placed it back in its sheath without telling me. It happened months ago and I'm a little mad about it. Not so much because the knife was damaged but because someone used t without my permission and did not have the guts or coutesy to own up to it.

When I first started collecting knives, I had a Kershaw Rainbow Leek that I really loved. One day while fishing at a park, a big storm came up...by the time my son and I got back to the van with all the stuff, we were drowned rats. It wasn't until we got home that I noticed the Leek was no longer in my pocket. Someone at the park found a nice knife...I hope they are taking good care of it!

After all the years and hundreds of knives Ive acquired during that time, Ive only lost one...

An Ernest Emerson Commander, brand new.

I left in the center console of a rental car here in Tampa, FL. Of course, when I called to ask if they found it...there was nothing to be found:rolleyes:

That one I consider my own fault, so I think I'm pretty lucky I've only lost the one.

Others I "thought" I had lost turned up within weeks or in the case of my Buck 119, about a year later in with the X-Mas stuff.

They're never lost, just MIA, right now I can't find my Queen 2 blade winterbottom bone Serpentine Jack.

Only MIA about 3 months and a Gerber CF SL3.25 MIA about a year.

Never lost one, but I just sent off the best knife I've ever traded away. The Mini Rukus.

I didn't lose it but loaned it to a friend that did - a Case leather handled fixed blade. Got it back in the 70's from a friend that is no longer with us....that knife held one hell of an edge too. Haven't loaned a knife to anyone since.

I lost a Gerber Big Hunter that I had just made a new sheath for. The handle was worn down to the aluminum, the blade had been sharpened many times, I had ground the back of the blade to a drop point, the handle had been bored for a thong, and the original sheath had given up the ghost. I guarantee that if the person that found it tested the edge with his thumb, it bit him. It was perfect. That knife had been down the road with me and back. I bought another, but it just isn't the same.

I recently lost a spyderco CF caly 3 that I purchased at the SFO and had carried almost daily. :grumpy: One of the sharpest production knives I've ever owned and the fit and finish were flawless. The good news is that I was recently given a replacement for the lost knife, another CF caly 3. :)

Lost a Spyderco police at college. Thought I lost my Seb Classic but much to my surprise I hadn't, my boy tossed it in the trash.I suppose some dumpster divers got a nice knife.

Lost my first ever knife while gopher hunting: a small fish theme Puuko from Bodo Norway where my Grandmother was from. It had been my great-uncles knife and when my dad filleted his first fish he got the knife. So I had to earn it that way as well. The handle was the head of the fish and the sheath was the rest of the fish's body. No way of ever replacing it- probably even if I went to Bodo, no way of telling how old it was either. I still get teary when I think about it- it was one of the few things I got from my dad before he died when I was 8, and on top of it it was a family heirloom. Maybe someday I'll make a bad copy of it and try to restart the tradition.

Other than that I lost an all steel serrated Spyderco Delica on the same day I bought it. This really burned my ass as I KNOW it fell off while changing at Jujitsu as I used it at the beginning of class to trim some string. I called my instructor about it as soon as I noticed it missing when I got home and he told me that it was not found. Then a couple of months later I was telling another in my class about it and he told me that my instructor had it as he showed it while drinking with the guy!!! Liar!!! The part that really pissed me off was my (former) instructor is a cop!!
And I lost my first pocket clip folder (Gerber EZ out) while either in a pub or hauling bales earlier in the day. Miss it for sentimental value as it was ready to give up the ghost, but still sad.

Lets not get into stolen knives.

Many years ago i lost or had stolen from my bunk in scout camp a Balisong that my brother in law gave me. Don't even remember the make...

sigh.....I lost my Hideaway Knife about a month and a half ago....still searching...

Nothing major to me, however I lost a Leatherman Skeletool CX that was given to me for Christmas and I lost it within a week of getting it.

An Old Timer at age eight, an Endura at 18, and a Salt at around 28. I just realized the timing on those and see a pattern. Guess I'm good to go for another seven years or so. The Old Timer was the hardest because my father had given it to me and I was so careful. I had real trouble keeping things from falling out of jeans pockets as a skinny kid.

Missing in action: Spyderco Ti Military grrr. Still hoping i eventually find it.
