Best knife

If you already have a SAK , then I'd say get a fixed blade . Something like and ESEE 4 or ESEE Laser Strike , or an Ontario TAK 1 or a Condor Bushlore .
Personally I like my Survive Knives GSO 5 . But they are sold out right now and if you can find one on the secondary market expect to pay about $275 for it .

Well, cutting ropes, woods, sometimes food and for other camping activitied

I can't imagine anyone going camping without a Swiss Army Knife or Scout Knife or Mil-K knife in his/her pocket. Victorinox even sells one as the Camper. Beyond that, a small sheath knife like a 4 inch Mora can handle all food preparation and many other tasks. A hatchet and folding saw will handle all firewood needs. While often not mentioned, a short machete is useful for clearing a camp site.

Anyone who learns how to use these tools can handle any camping activities. After using these, a person will also be able to make choices for specific tasks. My opinion, for what it is worth.

I can only offer my own experience with "best camping knife..."

If you haven't purchased yet, do fifteen minutes of research on the knives of northern Finland's reindeer herders. In particular the Leuku and Pukko designs. Or, just Goog "Finnish Knives" for the pics.

Of all the fixed blade knives I've owned I can look back over years and identify the one I probably used the most--backpacking, mountains, rivers, pack carry on ground trips of any kind, canoes, campouts--a 4"-blade Leuku from the J. Martinni factory in Finland, given me as a gift long ago.

Their knives are available from American dealers and are surprisingly reasonable. They aren't marketed heavily here but a number of dealers carry them. They aren't at all fancy but I can tell you they are tough, they are workers and they last. If you consider a Leuku stick to the real thing and not some modification of the design. The simplicity of the basic design and shape is the key.

For me the Leuku has been the best all around outdoor blade design when it comes to actual USE.

I use Fallkniven F1 in 3G steel.Very good all-round camping fixed blade.

I googled it --> "the Victorinox Camper".
Large and small blade, a saw, can opener, bottle opener - that should be sufficient (for a pocket knife that is).

If you prefer a lockable blade, the "Rucksack" is an excellent choice.
I like the "Schweizer SoldatenMesser 08", because it combines the lockable blade with a one-hand-opener.

Scissors are useful, but for my taste it makes the handle bulky -YMMV.

hope this helps

I think your question should be rephrased as "best knives for camping" lol. Because you can't just have 1 with you!

If I'm going into the woods I'm taking my Ka-bar BK2, SAK camper, Mini Multi tool, ZT 0350, and maybe a Mora

I have long been a fan of the "big knife/little knife/folding saw" combo for camping.

Big Knife recs, (that won't break the bank):
Kershaw Camp 10
Becker BK9
Ontario SP50
Ontario RTAC II

Little knife recs:
Mora Companion
Ontario Pilots Survival Knife
Gerber Profile
Becker BK16/17

My current backpacking load out:
Bahco Laplander folding saw in the pack
Becker BK9 in the pack/on the belt if I am leaving camp.
BK11 Necker
Mora Companion on my belt
Vic Hunter SAK left rear pocket
Leatherman Wave on the belt
EDC folder, (pick one), right front pocket.

Lots of redundancy there. In reality, I could probably just bring any two of those and be perfectly fine.

when your camping you use your knife most for kitchen tasks (food prep) and some other cutting as well. I recommend a Spyderco Paramiliary II

There ya go

What's the "Best Knife"? The one you have when you need it!

And I like to add, the knife that get the job done quickly and effectively!

To the OP, didn't you create another 1-2 threads like this one before? I could have sworn we already told you since you were looking at SAK's to buy the one which has the tools you need, it's not that difficult.

Here I give you an example of what I "need" when I go camping and I pick a knife to bring. I want a wood saw, 2.5in-4in blade, can opener, bottle opener, preferably 2 blades and toothpick/tweezers. As you can tell I lean towards SAK's when camping and I already own the Huntsman II which has all those tools plus a pair of scissors which I doubt I be using. The minimalist approach for me to is buy the Camper or Camper II to fit all my needs, or the Farmer to fit just the basic requirements.
