I know it's an odd number, but my g/f said she would buy me any knife I wanted for $70 or less! So I am asking you guys what would be the best choice?
Im looking for LARGER folders especially!

*btw, I know there is a $50 or less thread already like this, but I was thinking that $20 more can buy you a significantly better knife!

My favorite knife in that price range is a Spyderco Endura. Other great choices would be a ESEE Izula or a Junkyard Dog II.

Kershaw groove + buy her dinner with the difference. You might have to skip your meal or take her to fast food though lol. She'll appreciate the thought.

I guess a full size grip or endura could be bought in that range. Not a super huge fan of either of those. Rather than do that I would prefer an h1 spyderco.

ooooo i totally forgot about the junkyard dog 2! I will definately take that into consideration thanks!

hahaha I like your suggestion but I don't think I like the groove that much...something about the blade shape bothers me. I already have a grip and an endura so those are out, but thanks anyways!

Offer up a little of your own cash as well and a get a Manix 2. If you can find a Kershaw G-10 Tyrade, that could also be a possibility.

you can get a full sized crkt ripple for just a hair (and I mean a hair) under 70 from the right dealer. not really what I would call big but a good deal for the price.

my personal favorite knife under 100 is the boker trance. not even close to 70 bucks (or big) but worth owning if you dont have one already. you said big, so why not try another knife made by the same guy and check out the boker m-type?

Look at the First Resonder from 5.11 tactical and the Boker Exskalibur. Both under 70 bucks and absolutely first quality of build. The FR is a brute of a knife, uses all ti liners and the locking liner is actually large enough to be considered a frame lock with scales. It is a pse blade though and that turns some folks off. The Exskalibur is again about as close to a custom knife as you will find in a production folder. I love it. keepem sharp

I have about 2,500 knives to chose from. there are hundreds for that price point that you want to spend. also - with the discount I offer all forum members you can get a little better knife for the same amount that you want to spend. email or PM me and we'll hook you up.

Delica with zdp, wave or g10 are all good. I'm not sure if they still sell for under $70 but Benchmade mini griptilian. Also the Spyderco Sage1 is good. The Kershaw od1 looks pretty good too but I don't own one.

Check out kershawguy's blem thread located here.

The best deals IMHO are the ZDP composite blade Blurs shipped for $65 and the CPM154 Blurs for $45. If you don't want AO, he has the CB JYD's for $42 and the SG2 JYD for $79. Too much good stuff to list here. Check out his thread!

Kershaw JYD2/RAM, Spyderco Endura / Delica / Stretch, Benchmade Griptilians, ESEE Izula.

I have found that ~$70 is my happy spot for knives :)

I bought my Benchmade LFK 10100 for 70 bucks. 5.2 inch blade. folds right into the handle with a tail that comes out.

Hi frgtn340 -

kershawguy has Kershaw Blur Composite blade blems for (1670BRNZDP) $65 - these retail for $139.95 and normally sell for around $85 plus tax and shipping.

I got one and love it - it is a very high quality knife for $65......

here is a pic of the one I got - I have never been able to find a blemish on this knife

There is an option for you...

The only bad thing I have found about my blur is that the thumb studs are sharply machined and they can tear up your pants and thumb - I ground the studs down on one with a dremel and that solved the problem fine ( I did this to a friends, I have not done mine yet, but I do not carry the blur EDC, I just rotate it in once in a while) .
best regards -

G10 JYD 2. the G10 version is a liner lock, but the liner is incredibly thick, practically framelock thick. If you prefer the framelock I believe the JYD 2 Composite has one.

JYD II CB, can't say enough good about this knife. Thick strong liner lock, VERY usefull blade shape and excellent steel, that or a endura are my top choices for a knife in that price range. The upcoming Rake is probably in that range but don't know when it will be released...........

IMO if you want a big folder in that price range you won't do better than a G10 Tyrade. The G10 Endura also has many fans and may be found in that price range at the moment. I have one and it doesn't seem to fit me well - obviously YMMV, and there's no question it's a top-quality knife, like most Spydercos.

I've been very happy with my Kershaw Ken Onion Shallot (model 1840CBZDP). The cutting edge is made from ZDP-189, while the rest of the blade is fused to 14C28N stainless steel. My wife bought this for me as a birthday gift for around $70.

Its thin, sharp, and will slip invisibly into your pocket. I've used it to cut up salad at work, butcher a rack of lamb into chops, split raw chicken and duck into halves and quarters, and cut rope. Plus, it looks really cool.
