Want to get kydex for black tie GW. Who do you think makes the best?
Think I want adj. tec loc, will tec loc make it to thick for EDC?

Leaning to dave brown. Also will the kydex scratch the satin at all ?

I have gotten at least 56 sheaths from David Brown at Buy Brown.

He makes great EDC sheaths, ask for the small Tec lock on small sheaths.

INFI gets lines from the stuff that gets into the sheaths, the coatings get wear lines from going into and out of the sheaths.

Some times colored lines get left on the INFI from the plastic, these lines usually wipe off with a little oil.

Use your knife and it will get marks, keep it safe, in a diaper in the safe and it will most likely stay a virgin.

I have some nice Busse knives wrapped in Buy Brown Kydex and need pretty soon to order at least 3 more sheaths for AKs, to go with the Four AK sheaths he already made for me.

I've got a Buy Brown sheath for a GW. It's a really small, unobtrusive sheath. I'll try to post a pic later when i get home. But it's definitely suitable for EDC on the belt --- or take of the teklock and it's a great sive to slip in your front pocket.

Shucks guys I think I am going to cry...................I love you guys :D

Thanks for all the kind words. You all rock.

I got also a kydex sheath from David. Those sheaths are awesome! I got a satin SFNO and yes, kydex will also scratch the satin finish.

Here's the promised pics of the Buy Brown carbon fiber GW sheath...

This thing is the cutest little piece of kydex I've ever seen:

and here's a shot of how I've been wearing it the last few days (normally under an untucked shirt.) It stays out of the way, totally unobtrusive and goes unnoticed. I like it a lot.

Here is a picture of my GW with a Okuden kydex sheath and IWB loop (in the waistband), he can also add a TekLok if you want.

Here is another picture of the Okuden kydex sheath and a few Armoralleather (Leatherman) sheaths.

Wow Tim... Are you carrying both Leatherman sheaths at the same time --- or did you order 2 to match your shoes? :p

Nice sheaths

Do you carry that BW any?

The Buy Brown sheath as pictured above looks smaller, more compact. It's not obvious if the sheath retains the blade in any way other than being a friction fit. Can anyone respond to that? For example, the Okuden sheath pictured above looks like it snaps into the detent in the scales to hold the knife securely, but that makes the sheath larger. Does the Buy Brown sheath retain the knife in any way?

Friction  There's no snap, it just clings to the blade itself.

I was worried about it at first (i didn't order it that way -- got it second hand), but it's quite secure and VERY small.

thanks for the carry pic.. that helps a lot!

1. I notice you carry sheath inside belt.. if you carry sheath Outside belt does it tend to flop outwards?

2. will sheath retain knife upside down? ..just curious.

On the BuyBrown Sheath you also have the option of locking the knife in the sheath by way of the Talon hole.

I Tend to put a Leash of some sort on the Smaller Busse knives and pass the end through the talon hole sheath hole to lock the knife in place while in the car or in heavy brush, also what I would do if I jumped out of an aircraft with it.

That's good advice! I'd never jump out of an airplane though ---- unless someone VERY scary made me do it :D

Tony,
Yes, the sheath will retain the knife upside down. But I would seriously follow papathud's advice on locking the knife if i carried it that way. It would have to get knocked hard, but it seems like it would be possible to lose it.

I carry IWB just to keep it real close -- i like to "feel" it on my back :D It would not flop at all in the traditional carry mode, but would "stick out" about 1/2 inch more. I like it concealed under my unticked shirt -- just works better for me.

ooooh!
that's a neat idea!
hey ScrapYard/SwampRat knives do not have talon holes.. do they?

hmm... wonder if i have any drill bits that'll make it through sr101/77..

Do you jump out of a lot of high performance aircraft by chance? Great idea though. I have one of his sheaths on the way and I may try that out. I imagine you could find a small carabiner and attach it to a belt loop and then through the talon hole when needed.

Yeah I can't imagine what kind of idiot would do something like that. :D
