BF’ers,

I have done some batoning with my bark river 1.25 in 3v and it’s great. If I want something larger for bigger logs, what should I get?!

I was looking at bark river crusader (see pic), I bravo 2, and Canadian camp II.

What else should I look at?

PS. I really like my 3v knives, so would like to stick with that steel...unless there’s something better.

Becker BK-9 or BK-2 in good old reliable, forgiving and easy to maintain 1095 with a little Chromium and vanadium added for good measure.

Esee Junglas has my vote (only large fixed blade I own anymore). But it is 1095 steel.

If you're set on 3V the Bradford Guardian 6 is a solid option, thought it is probably a bit short for what you're looking for with only a 6.5" blade.

I agree.

The Junglas is a beast as is the smaller Junglas II. I personally prefer the ESEE6 as it has batoned thru any tree I have needed to process. None of these are 3V, but IME 1095 is as tough as hell for batoning.

I regret selling my Esee 6. I'll definitely be getting one again at some point. Especially if they get the Esee 3HM going with a kydex sheath. Ergos on that look superb. If they haven't already...

One piece of advice I can offer that is often overlooked is that you get a knife that has scales that can handle the vibrations from batoning. I have lost ESEE6 scale hardware on a couple of occasions and my Steel Will fixed blades have pressure fit cylinder/tube pieces of steel that vibrate out if I baton for a long enough time. Make sure you use LocTite if the knife you decide on has hardware securing the scales.
