best larger folder under 40, include pics

Spend the extra $10 and get the one in your picture (Buck Vantage Pro)

I picked one up couple weeks ago (on the recomendaton of this board)
it's a heck of a knife for aprox. $50.

JMHO

the one he has pictured is the avid (346) ;)

See, I'm so Jazzed up about my new knife I didn't even notice (LOL)

Still recomend the Pro - for $50 a great buy. S30v blade, G10's, lifetime warr.,

I did want to change mine up a little though, anyone know where to get some diff. scales ? Been looking, nothing yet.

you dont like the g10? agreed, i love mine as well... s30v + bos heat treat + g10 for $50!!! = win

couple small things though... off center issue with mine (was easily corrected), g10 is too smooth and sharp around the edges (sanded the edges a bit), clip gives a really deep pocket carry (love it hate it depending on where im at and what im doing), clip didnt provide enough retention strength for my taste (took it off and bent it inwards but still not my cup of tea due to its design) and the flipper is too small and lacks some sort of jimping.

I've read a couple other's saying their's was off center too - No issue with mine.

Like the handles ok, just wanted to make it "Mine" - you know. They are edgy though, reach into my pocket and feels like I'm getting cut sometimes.

BUT ... it is a NICE knife. Been my EDC since I got it.

lol yeah felt like i was getting cut grabbing mine out of pocket at times too... took some 220grit to it and its fine now.

GREAT knife for $50 still :)

You might want to consider the Kershaw Storm II. The #1475 Storm II has a 3.5" blade and is a little bigger than my 3" #1470 pictured below. Either knife is a very good value IMHO.

Currently my Tyrade, which usurped my Offset. However, it's in a vulnerable position as my MUDD will arrive monday

I don't have one yet but the Ontario Model 1 (aka RAT 1) seems to have a pretty decent reputation. They are apparently popular with the troops oversees (I cannot cite this for accuracy)...they probably sell them at the PX I suppose. MSRP about $45 and regularly available from Internet knife stores for under $30. AUS-6 Steel which is a pretty decent, if not glamorous, stainless. It's a linerlock.

Actually, the RAT1 is AUS 8, not 6. I am looking at mine right now. I have been using this one hard for about a year on the job, and while is isn't as pretty as it once was it is still completely solid. Tough to beat for price and the actual utility of the design. The flat grind makes it easy to sharpen, it carries well, and is a solid knife in the hand.

All that being said, I don't know how you could go wrong with any of the knives posted so far. It's a good looking group.

Hey.... where are the Sebenza guys? :D

Definely have to include the Sog Flash 2. Love the deep pocket carry and it is plenty cheap to thrash but still enjoy as an EDC.
