I have had a couple smaller spydercos in the past...but I am looking to get a larger folder.
For the price I'm thinking I can't go wrong with the tenacious...but I want to know your guys opinion. As for size, the tenacious is probably the smallest I want to go...not sure how much bigger spydercos go.

Preferably under $100...

Sorry if this has been asked a lot...can't find anything when I search.
Thanks!

Hi 223 -

The Military is one of, if not THE largest folder (from Spyderco). I have one and it is a great knife.

The Para-military 2 is a bit smaller, and also a very great knife, but it has a different lock design.

Lot's of options even with just these two knives in terms of blade steel and scale colors/materials.

best

I should have stated...under $100 would be best...but the para looks awesome

endura 4 ffg runs around 70$. it was my first spyderco and is amazing.its a 4 inch blade, the handle is quite long so it feels like a large knife. vg10 steel, would defiantly recommend it. the other option is the Resilience almost 5 inch blade i think and about 40$. most of the spydercos that are larger than that are over $100..

its over $100 but the military is my favorite edc of all time.......... under $100 all you can get is a manix 2. i dont buy knives from china, japan or taiwan so i cant and will never reccomend the spidies from those country's. make sure you buy a usa made spidie!!!!!!

Looking at reviews of the para 2 and starting to raise my budget haha

Honestly my biggest problem with more expensive knives isn't that I don't have the money...I am just too afraid to use them and they sit around :/

The Endura 4 is well under the $100 mark and a high quality execution of a very refined design. Nothing wrong with Spyderco knives made in other countries. Para 2 is the bomb, but a little north of your stated budget. Military is also excellent, probably the best folder on earth for use with heavy gloves on, but even more money and a full 4" blade.

remember they are made to be used and are better at cutting than your cheep knives. you have no need to be affraid if you dont pry with it. guys carry sebenzas for years and it is the best knife they ever carry and they never have problems with them. you pay extra so you dont need to be delicate with them. have your ever broken a knife before? you have no reason to be affraid

Ya, you're right!
I had a smaller spyderco that I was completely stupid with a pried...and bent the tip. I think that scared me...

I am definitely thinking of getting the para military 2 all black...even though it's $120

The already mentioned Resilience is a larger knife with a ~4.0" blade at a cost of around $40-$50, depending on place of purchase. It gets some good reviews as does the Tenacious of which the Resilience is in the family of this group. The Para-Military is a knife I'm not really familiar with as I've only picked up and held a generation 1 P-M. I didn't like it, but that is just me. The titanium Military is my favorite Spyderco and one that is in my edc rotation, but it is around $200, so out of the set budget.

The Manix 2 XL has a blade just under 4.0" and appears to be a well respected knife so far. It also can be found for the $100 you want to use.

Been watching a lot of reviews on the para-military 2...I think I'm gonna pull the trigger.
Will definitely be my most expensive knife by far

i would get a satin finish para 2. the black looks cool but the satin will look better over a long period of time.

i know it seems expensive but i think of it like this.
would you rather have 5 $10 knives or 1 $50 knife. would you rather have 3 $50 knives or 1 $150 knife. would you rather have 3 $150 knives or 1 $450 knife

i can tell you for sure that the 1 more expensive knife is always better then the 3 or 4 cheeper knives. i would rather have 1 sebenza that 3 benchmade's and i would rather have 1 benchmade than 3 crkt's or china spyderco's.

i hope you get that para 2......

You should be able to buy a Military or a Paramilitary 2, either new or ANIB, for about $100, on the Exchange on this forum.
Excellent knives.

That definitely makes sense! Just need to bite the bullet.
Is the satin the only other option?
I just love the look of the black on black...probably have to stick with that :)

get a full flat-grind endura 4 in zdp 189 for $95. you get a 4-inch blade in a package slim and light enough for EDC. the combination of ffg and zdp steel is near-unbeatable. drawback: hard to sharpen and prone to chipping if you're not careful. take care of it and it will cut like a laser.
