Best lock, AXIS?

Oftentimes a frame lock is no stronger than a liner lock because of the cutout. Even though it's thicker for most of its length, it's only as strong as the weakest part.

That is not necessarily true depending on the mode of failure. Buckling has to do with the cross sectional area and the length of the member. It is quite a bit more complex than that.

Compression lock by far. Gotta love a lock that won't fail before the pivot!

Axis, Compression (possibly my favorite), CBBL, are my favorites that I've used. My Manix has a brutally strong and reliable mid lock, and the Military has a liner lock as strong as most frame locks (and the Gayle Bradley golfer probably has a liner lock stronger than 99% of frame locks). I carry multiple knives and use them with either hand, so I generally prefer the Comp, Axis, CBBL and mid lock for use with either hand. I don't like liner locks as much the others, though I must say I'm loving the liner lock on the Gayle Bradley due to it being as smooth as any knife I owns while being brutally strong (in my favorite steel too). Basically I do have my preferences with lock types but if the knife is well engineered and I like it I won't let the lock style stop me from getting it if I like the other attributes (like the Millie and Bradley).
