Wired magazine had these in their "Best of the Outdoors" section, so I thought I would take a look. Don't know if the head is any good at all, but the prices are ... well... pretty ridiculous.

The cheapest ones are $250, but you can get one with a special paint job on the handle for only $500.

From reading the ad copy, it sounds like they're advocating the axe as a decorative object. Nothing wrong with that, I guess, but for $500 you could get a nice Gransfors Bruks for your living room, and a few for the bedroom!

Wow. I couldn't justify a $500 axe that looks like I got it from GAP kids.

I ought to head down to the store for some paint. It looks like I should be slathering pastel crap onto random tools and selling them instead of working for a living.

Um. Okay. There's nothing like making bank by selling clueless yuppies something they can pick up at the hardware store for 1/10th of the price. You know those axes are the best made. It says so right in the name!

Impress the ladies at your next cocktail party in the Hamptons! "Oooooh! An AXE! That's so "edgy"!"

I grabbed about 5 axes this summer for a total of 25 bucks, most are as good or better than these $500.00 things, Hey, I'm rich ;-))

HolyMoly!! For 500 clams I would just get Mr Winkler to make me one of his bad a** woodcutters!! Sheesh!

You obviously got your coffee this morning before I did because that was an awesome post!! Perfect! :D

Courage,Fortitude,Compassion,and Grace,what's up with names like that?You don't think it's a marketing ploy,do you.?What a crock!!!Oh well,if they can get money from mentaly challenged people,more power to them.

is this a joke?

i enjoy that there is no info about the head other than its fine grain steel o and it comes with an edge protector cause they are probably better than sheaths

ill stick with my gb at a fifth of the price

That site/product is one of the oddest things I've ever seen. If somebody told me about these, I would not have believed them.

The "inspiration" page is amusing. Not exactly the kind of page one would expect to see hosted by an axe maker although the girl is nice.

I think the reason I haven't come up with a money-making scheme like this is that I assume most folks aren't morons. Perhaps I should rethink things.
