So, a few weeks ago I got a White River Knives Scout for Christmas. I have been carrying and loving it, but it made me want a EDC fixed blade that is a bit bigger! So I will try to list some things I want and hopefully y'all can recommend something that fits me a bit better!

Things I would like:
7 1/2 to 8 1/2 inches full length
No scales (or some I could remove)
Good quality steel (154cm or up)
Kydex sheath
Something I can carry inside the waistband on my right side
Stainless steel
Not over $200 if possible but i will pay more if its everything I want

I think thats about it, thanks all!

If you are willing to wait I would recommend a GSO 3.5. I don't personally own this knife but I have a 4.1 and love it. The 3.5 fits your desired size (8.25 in) and comes with a great kydex sheath. The handle scales are removable but the ones on my 4.1 are very ergonomic. With Survive's customizable options you can change blade steel and handle color to fit your liking, you'll just have to wait a while (months) to get it.

I agree with both men above, great suggestions, & I waited months for my 3.5 & it really is the perfect sized fixed blade to carry, available in CPM-3V & CPM-20CV - both ba-dass steels...I too love EDC-ing fixed blades as you've described (except the no scales part) I would add, try checking out the Fixed Blade Exchange here, you'll either spot what you're after quickly, or spot a maker you can work with quickly...& the price point is no problem - best of luck bro!

Thanks, does the sheath still retain just as well without the scales? I mainly like no scales because I tend to conceal my blades and such and I don't really mind not having the scales. I really like the 3.5 because if the sheath still works then I could put them on or off depending on what I'm doing..

You'd need to form a new sheath, the stock one is formed to fit the scales for proper retention. No big deal, all you need is a bit of kydex, a heat-gun, and some foam and 2x4s to make one for yourself.

What about rivets? Im not sure I could do that but if I could, I have been wanting to make a better kydex sheath for my White River Knives Scout also.. :D The stock kydex sheath can't be used with a tec-lock..
I don't have access to a rivet press or anything so I can't do that..

Rivets are only necessary if you don't intend to put screws in holes *shrug* Fold-over sheaths are secured by the kydex itself on the folded-side, rivets or screws/bolts are only needed along an open seam that will be stressed by sheathing/unsheathing the knife, i.e. where you need the kydex to act as a retention-device. For example, on the WRK Scout sheath, the two holes at the tip-end don't actually need rivets, but they help with allowing cord to easily pass through the holes for neck-carry. On the side of that sheath, those holes wouldn't need rivets either if a screw/bolt is used to ensure sufficient tension at the neck of the sheath to prevent the knife slipping out. The rivet closest to the neck maintains that tension in the absence of a screw/bolt.

Why can't the WRK Scout sheath accept a Tek-lok? Holes in the wrong place? Easily solved with a drill... But are you sure you want a Tek-lok for IWB carry? Personally, I'd just replace the plastic belt-loop included with the sheath for a leather one, you can cut it from an old belt - drill a couple holes where you need them for mounting and presto.

If you need assistance with managing the sheaths, I can offer my services there - I have the tools and some materials on hand for making and modifying sheaths and attachments (I actually sell an accessory i designed called the Universal Kydex Extension, you can see the new version 2.0 by following my signature links). You'd need to send me the knife for a new sheath, or the sheath if you want it modified.

But I personally think VanDammet's earlier recommendation about checking out the Makers' Sale section is a good one - if you can't find exactly what you want, you may find a maker who can create a knife according to your precise design specifications within your budget.

I mainly carry my WRK on my belt because I can't carry it inside the waistband, so I want a tec-lok for the WRK and I will find something bigger (what I really want) for inside the waistband. I wouldn't want a big fixed blade on my belt, anyways..

Can you post pics to show why the Tek-Lok cannot mount to your WRK sheath? Seeing the issue would let me offer advice on solving it. What advantage does the Tek-Lok offer you over the included belt-loop?

I do not have a Tek-Lok but the spacing is 1 & 1/2 inches on the Tek-Lok and the spacing on the kydex sheath on my white river is 1 inch.. Seeing as I don't need rivets, I suppose I could drill a hole and make it fit... The Tek-Lok is a bit easier to get on and off of the belt..

The small Tek-Lok and the Spyderco G-clip both have hole-spacing for 1" o.c. that will fit your WRK.

Otherwise, a 7/32" hole drilled/punched at 3/4" o.c. would fit a large Tek-lok or an AB-3 belt-clip, as would a hole at 1.5" o.c. Tek-lok is indeed easy to get on/off, though it is also hard and bulky... *shrug*

Let us know what you end up with for your larger knife?

I don't know why you wouldn't consider a larger knife for inside the waistband carry. I have a Cold Steel Bush Ranger that I regularly carry inside my waistband. It is 12 1/2in overall, with a 7 1/2in. blade, and is very comfortable.
I just modified the sheath a little, It's very lightweight too. I usually carry it on my left side, but either side works well.

When I want to carry a smaller blade, I usually carry a Blackjack Tac-Ops 4 1/2in. It comes with a Kydex sheath that even has a locking feature. The sheath is not for inside the waistband carry, but it's small enough that you can just keep your shirt tail out, or a slightly baggy t-shirt, and it's out of sight. I usually carry it behind my right hip, with the bottom of the sheath sticking in my back pocket.

Its not that I dont want to carry a larger blade, its not that its not legal, its that I really don't need that large of a knife in my edc

Gottcha. Just trying to stay inexpensive. I usually carry a knife for self defense though, so medium to large is where I like to be.
Your White River Scout looks to be a nice knife. Good luck with finding a good inside the waistband Kydex. Seems that there are a lot of folks that could make you up one inexpensively. If it were me, I would opt for leather though. Much more comfortable.

i carry a lon humphrey custom hunter. i made my own leather iwb sheaths with quick release snap loops. i know kydex would b better, but it takes from the look of a period style knife
