Best middle finger flick knife, just not spyderco;)

The Stedemon Shy finger-flicks open pretty well. I turned the thumbplate 90 degrees to make it even easier.

Are you a lefty? I could never middle finger flick my Shy. I just tried turning the thumbplate 90 degrees and even then it wasn't even close to middle finger flickable (right handed) to me.

I've always liked that knife, but I wish I had waited instead of ordering one when they first came out. There are so many options now, I have the original basic black aluminum model:

I'm sitting here with a few different Spydercos trying to figure out how to flick it open with my middle finger, and wondering how it's even remotely easy or a good idea.:confused:o_O
I've never been able to middle finger flick anything. I can use my index finger to flick certain knives. Some non-Spydercos I can think of off-hand that I've done that with are the Benchmade Grip and mini-Grip (551 and 556) and the Benchmade axis TSEK (long discontinued). The TSEK was probably the easiest, although, TBH, I almost never flick my knives open. Occasionally I'll try it with a certain knife just to see if it can be done, then never do it again.

There's a bunch of Spydercos I've done that with, including: Pacific Salt, Salt 1, Military, PM2, Endura 4, etc.

I can do it with my 940s easily. Just have to have the correct hand position. Little practice and it’s second nature.
Also, every single Spydie I have.

That is good to know as I think I will get myself a manix 2 at least

You won't be disappointed. I prefer the lightweight to the g10 variants, but both are fantastic. A moderately large blade that weighs under 3 ounces, it's the only knife to beat out my other 100 knives for pocket time.

I guess I'm a pretty proficient middle finger flicker (lol) because I can spydieflick all of my spydercos including backlocks, My Seb25, and basically all my other knives.

One that middle finger flicks nicely but uses thumbstuds is my Enzo Birk 75. I can send that blade flying out.

I have small fingers and can’t even index finger flick a Spyderco, let alone with the middle finger. :(

I just realized that I always use my thumb. This is to open all of my knives that don’t open by gravity or with an Axis/ball bearing lock.

Benchmade 555 mini grips can be middle finger flicked pretty easily, but the positioning of the index finger on the back side scale is a little tricky... If you're touching the lock it won't flick. I'm guessing the larger 550 grip would be easier, should be more room for the index finger without touching the lock.

Strider SNG, using hole or studs.
ZT0550 and 0560
Southern Grind Spider Monkey
Benchmade Rift
I've probably got a few others; but that's all I think of at the moment
