Best mobile phone carrier

I'm dropping T-mobile like a rock that came out of my bum after eating mexican food. What are your experiences with some of the other carriers? Or, what's your favorite carrier.
 
I believe ATT is considered the worst all around by Consumer Reports if that helps.
 
I second that about ATT. I have had a great time with Verizon. Helpuful customer service, great prices and rates. They often have unlimited texts and minutes deals, and good phone selection. And their website is easy to navigate view/pay bills etc...

Worst Experiences:
1. Surewest raised rates all the time and screwed up bills, horrible customer service
2. ATT unreliable reception/connectivity, bad CS
 
I have been with Verizon for 10 yrs or so and they have always been good. Haven't had any complaints, and their customer service has always been good. Plus their coverage is great!
 
AT&T can be great... depending on where you are. In a lot of major cities, they rock. But, in rural areas, they often suck.

Who is best? No carrier. They are all devils... whether it's coverage, data speed, call quality, customer service, billing, none excels at any of it.
 
They can all be good; they can all suck. Like Gollnick said, a lot depends on where you live. I'm in a big city, and AT&T is great for voice, but abysmal for data (20-60 kbps on a 4G phone). Verizon's pretty good here, but doesn't have the phone I want.

Out here in the boonies where I live, you have your choice of AT&T, Verizon or one of the local carriers. The county just switched their phones from AT&T to Verizon when they figured out the latter worked in all those AT&T dead zones all over the area. I've been with Verizon since they bought Alltel, and so far they suck less than the alternatives.
 
I've always had at&t (use to be cingular) I don't have any complaints other than what someone has already mentioned. If you live in the boonies the service will more than likely be terrible. Anywhere else I always have 4-5 bars. I thought about changing to verizon once because a lot of my family is on verizon but I just like at&t phones so much more.

The choice of phones was why I switched from Verizon to AT&T. The coverage was why I wish I hadn't. The coverage for AT&T is better now, but still not better than Verizon. Tucson isn't the boonies, but just outside of it is, and coverage quickly disappears.
 
For pure signal coverage, Verizon usually beats AT&T in my area. When I was with Verizon in the 2G era I had nearly full bars almost everywhere I went. More recently when I went back to them to get an Android phone, 3G signal was never more than 50-60% anywhere I went.

To be fair, my current Net10 phone runs on AT&T and while the signal can vary wildly even when I sit still, I've only had a few dropped calls, always when starting them. The phone blows, and Net10's dropped the plan I use, so I'll switch to a TracFone. Most specimens of the new one apparently are running on T-Mobile, so I'll have to brush up on my ESL to get an AT&T sim if that happens to me.

what is the problem with t-mobile please?? I have them . I went to them after att screwed me over.
 
I'm happy with Verizon. Around here, if you have AT&T, you might as well not even have a cell phone. Coverage is almost nonexistent, until you get close to the nearest medium size city.
 
Verizon has the best coverage by far. I can send and receive calls in very remote places (CONUS). Out with friends, my phone is often the only one that works because they are on T-Mobile and ATT.
 
Verizon has the best coverage but you're going to pay for it.

I had Verizon for 10 years until they got too expensive for me to justify staying with them, (i.e. they're going to make you pay for a data plan, regardless of what phone you have, even if it's not "smart") so I left and went with Sprint. I've been with them for over a year now and have yet to be in an area where Verizon had better coverage.

I also had a much better customer service experience with Sprint than I ever did with Verizon. I had not written off Verizon but the way their customer service reps treated my wife and I when they found out we weren't renewing our contract really pissed me off and pretty much ruined any chance they ever had of us returning.

Remember, regarding coverage, Sprint and Verizon both use the same type of network (CDMA), and more often the not, the exact same towers.

I have a non-smart verizon phone and do not pay data. Never heard of that before.
 
I'm still on a $29.95/month plan from the 90's. I expected that to go away when Verizon bought Alltel, but so far they are honoring it. It has been a few years since I heard someone cussing their Sprint phone for not working out here. Whether that is because they work here now or because people wised up and stopped trying to get them to work is another question altogether.
 
I have ATT and get good service but hate the company.I will never have home service from them again.
I have had Verizon on work phones and ATT gets better reception around here.When I was driving truck for Pepsi I carried my personal phone and used it more than the work phone.Seemed Verizon would drop signal if I got more than 5 or 6 miles away from an interstate.
