looking whats out there in the modern folder slicer department. Thin behind the edge thin blade stock. I know in the traditional knives opinel and a lot of slip joints are great slicers, I own both and a decent number of them. So wanted to see whats out there in the modern department. Not really looking in the over $150 range but list them if you want. Really just seeing if somethings out there I haven't thought about. Thanks

The RealSteel H6 is very good as is the S571pro, obviously all of the ffg spydercos, I really like the Cold steel's with hollow grinds lawman, code 4, recon 1, the broken skull is a great slicer as well.

Most full flat ground Spyderco knives do great in slicing, the Paramilitary 2, Military, Manix 2 LW, and the Dragonfly come most readily to mind.

What? No Endura love? Also, Chambriard compagnon is both a great slicer and a beautiful knife.

The benchmade 490 amicus is the best I've handled. Better than any spyderco (stretch, Gayle Bradley, PM2, centofante, etc.) Thin behind the edge, thin but sturdy blade, comfortable handle, good lock, it's perfect. If you are military and visit the benchmade HQ, you can get it for 170.

thanks for all the suggestions. Been thinking about a broken skull, and ill have to check out the real steel as well as the benchmade(I wish that benchmade wasn't assisted).

Spyderco JD Smith!! There a thread now on the Spydie forum about good Spyderco slicers, there's a pic of the Smith on the thread. Long discontinued and a little hard to find.

Very thin at the edge. The Chokwe is a great slicer too.

The ritter griptilians are good slicers too. My main EDC has been a mini grip with a ritter blade and wilkins scales for a bunch of years now, and it's a hell of a knife in a wee package.

I am finding that my Benchnade 531 makes a decent small, lightweight slicer. Not quite FFG but close enough.

slice what, paper, carrots, raw or cooked beef, cardboard boxes, old carpet, or dry walls? The answer may be different depending on what will be sliced.

I prefer slicers, and most of my meager collection is of those. Spyderco PM2 is really great. Manix 2 is thin while still being very, very sturdy. Full flat grinds are the way to go.

Good ones that I own are the Spyderco PM2, FFG Delica, the Centofante 3, the Buck Vantage, CS Broken Skull, and the Ontario Rat1. The Kershaw Skyline and Link are good too. I am sure there are others that are great as well, these are just the ones I own. I much prefer slim blades with fine tips to the big tough sharpened pry-bar types.

I personally love my Kershaw Link as a slicer! I have used it to slice through anything and everything! Sure, it's no $150 knife, but for its price point it is one hell of a slicer :)

The S110V Manix 2LW could probably be used to skin someone if you could get them to stay still long enough, same with the ZDP Stretch...just make sure to clean it after!

This.

As you say, Topcat, the Opinel and traditional slipjoints are killer when it comes to slicing, but full flat grind Spydies are supreme in the modern folder genre. The king of them all, in my book, is the Swiss Army Knife.
