Kershaw Skyline is thing and the 14c28n can be sharpened to razor sharpness with relative ease for under $50. A CF version with a S30V blade can be had for around $100 if you want a blade that will hold it's edge longer (though the 14c28n is not bad and super easy to touch up).

Thanks again for all the suggestions. I'm a fan of the spydercos too. And I do look around and have some experience with a lot of them just was curious if I was missing anything since I've been on the traditional war path lately.

You need a Spyderco Centofante 3:thumbup:

Its a modern folder with a 2mm blade.

Most modern folders are 3mm or more :(

Boker Urban Trapper (Plus)

We got home from the traditional Minnesota lake/cabin/family resort thing a couple of weeks ago, and mine was with me the whole time, in large part, because I did most of the cooking. With the 3 1/2" blade, it's hard to discern this from your average small kitchen paring knife. I used it for carving up potatoes, slicing up ham, and cutting the bread crusts off of sandwiches for the grandkids.

It cleans up easy, carries easy, opens smooth and fast, and, while VG-10 may not be on the list of exotic steels today, it gets insanely sharp and holds an edge reasonably well if responsibly used.

For about $75, you really could do a lot worse.

Spyderco K2.
$149

I just ordered another Spyderco about that price. I thought the K2 was three hundred dollars about. I could have had that.

Don't mind that constant banging noise off in the distance . . . that's just me . . . banging my head against the wall.
