I found this thing in the Boker Magnum series, and I was astonished at the price: $7??? This thing looks awesome, and it has a solid frame lock design. Mystery steel of course, but hey, who cares at that price? Any other suggestions for $10 modern folder?

Are you just curious or is that really your price point?

Spyderco Bug, Honeybee, and Grasshopper.

Vic Classic SAK

You can find some Gerbers (mini paraframe) at that price point.

Opinels, although they are traditional.

Kershaw Vapor, Buck Bantam can actually be bought second hand (or new if you're lucky) for under $10

+1 To the Sanrenmu suggestions. That or you could try that knife that you first pictured. For 7 bucks I don't see why not.

+1. The best a 5 year old chinese kid can produce.;)

Mine came with a nice finger painted picture.

Seriously, though, those are some damn talented 5 year olds.

They crank out some high quality knives.

TLDR: Buy a SanRenMu. I love my 710.

I'm pretty much broke...I just spent a bunch of money on my first 5 folders (Spyderco Tenacious, Benchmade Mini Grip 556, Ontario Rat-1, Boker Trance, SOG Mini Vulcan). Honestly, I think I could get just as much enjoyment out of some really cheap knives.

Sanrenmu.

What he said.

Sweet Jesus, there's five of you?:(

Don't be afraid of good value.

FWIW, I've seen some dismal Boker Magnum knives. I purchased one to compare with a exact copy from the local .99 Cent store. They were almost exactly the same, except the Boker had "Boker Magnum" stamped into the tang, and had poor lockup. Yes, the 99 cent nameless clone knife was better than the real thing.

I've had the same thing happen with Sanrenmu knives v original. I bought a odd minimalist SRM knife that was a close copy of CRKT K.I.S.S. The Sanrenmu was better in every way. Better steel. Better fit and finish. Better price.

After buying several different Sanrenmus, I'd buy another sight unseen without any reservations. Not so with the Boker Magnums or low end CRKTs. Sanrenmu is gonna eat their lunch not by copying their designs, but by offering better products at a lower price. More power to them. And I hope it lights a fire under CRKT and Boker's butts to produce better offerings.

Sanrenmu 710. And don´t worry about that 5 year old chinese kid, it is in school. Almost every chinese kid is. And after school it is in the hand of his loving grandparents. His parents don´t have the time to take care of him in the daytime, they are working their asses off in the Sanrenmu factory. And the kid, in 15 years time will not be some unschooled coolie.
