Best of the Best: Contemporary Classics--Modern Takes on Traditional Knives

Jared Oeser does a fine job of putting a modern touch on a traditional design.

As does J.D. Ellis, as evidenced by this beauty that was a gift from a valued friend. ;^)

All good & tasteful choices so far, I even own some of them :D:thumbup:

My take is a bit different, I suggest Chambriard's Le Thiers knives (Compagnon, Compact) All Sandvik construction, filework, woods, stag, horn, a modern rendering of the classic Laguiole in my op.

Thanks, Will

I would have to jump on the J. Oeser modern take on traditionals.

This pic was right before it did some cow castrating.

With the brands, heating up.

Here it was brand new.

I would have to add much of the GEC line up to that too.

Just good stuff.

Some GEC made Schrade's

S&M in Ats34

Queen/Pardue in D2 (love that stuff once properly edged).

Here is one, I don't remember the maker, but I think it was sold on the exchange a few years ago (I could be mistaken).

Probably one of my most mouth watering custom traditionals I have seen.

WOW! mqqn, just wow! Those are some amazing modern classics. Nice to see knives that do real work. Did that gunstock Oeser ever wash clean, or is the handle marbled now? Thanks for the great pics and story.

That coke-bottle jack is exceptional. Looks like it's glowing from within!
