Several years ago I did evaluations of Swisstool, ST Spirit, Super Tool and Charge TTi. For weeks and months I carried one or the other, and when possible, two at a time for direct comparison. These trials lasted from summer to late winter, both indoor and out, for mechanical, home, yard and miscellaneous projects. My conclusion was that although the Vic products were beautifully designed and made, the Leathermen were overall better tools. Under cold, wet conditions, it was difficult to use the Swisstool nail nicks, especially with wet fingernails, while most Leatherman implements came out with no trouble at all. LT sharp cut screwdrivers were much superior to the Vics' over-polished ones. In one comparison I used a Swisstool to tighten a screw until it could go no further without slipping, then applied the Leatherman and got an additional 3/4 turn with no slippage at all. The OHO blades on the TTi were not only a real help when holding something in the other hand, but a safety issue when on a ladder. The true needle nose pliers on the Leathermen were also more versatile in my uses than the more blunt Vics and also open wider (although an issue only once, ever.) In the end, I sold off the Vics and stayed with the Leatherman products, no regrets.
That said, I love SAKs and have a long history with them. There are several in my rotation. When it comes to pliers based multi-tools, though, it's Leatherman for me.
