What in your opinion are the best folders---no longer being produced? I'll limit this to production knives, not customs. I am focusing on collecting these out of production folders. In the last week I bought a MT Hawk, BM 975 SBT, and a Socom MA Tanto (no Ma Tanto elite, maybe never?) Needless to say I am stinging a little in the wallet, but these beauties do not come along often ( I got killer deals)and they all appeared at once. So guys tell me what is next? Maybe a DA Socom....What is good in old Spydies? etc.

I've got an old Parker Damascus folder that's a beaut. Wow does that puppy sharpen up nice. No idea when they quit making them, friend gave it to me. Bolsters look like nickel silver, don't even know what the wood on the handles is........

I agree with stjames. The Wegner Jr is a great little knife.

the best out of production knife? well there are a few imho - like the BM 800 series AFCK, the Spydercp khalsa and the centofante is out of production now too i think - and the gerber mark 1 and 11 - but out of all of them i will miss the AFCK, w/the round hole, the most - just like the knife..

Second Gollnick, the steel-handled Benchmade Balisongs were great.

Spyderco Large Calypso, micarta handle and flat ground VG-10 blade, wicked sharp and pretty longish blade also!

Steinie, I have a Parker Damascus just like you describe. Picked it up at Service Merchandise 10+ years ago for about $15. One of the best buys ever!

I think the BM 970 belongs on the list. It was very popular, but BM had to discontinue it when Ernie opened his own production facility.

BTW, I heard on the Microtech forum that the M/A SE Tanto will not be produced.

Wayne Goddard lightweight, or the good old Spyderhole 800 AFCK! I may have had some problems with mine, but the Spyderhole looks a LOT better to me...

My vote goes to the BM 800, and the MT SOCOM and Mini Socom's. There are so many cool out of production folders out there, but I feel these were the best.

I really liked the large Calypso. I think it was a great knife that was elegant in its simplicity. As one person said, it suffered from being a 'tweener: it was a bit big for a gent/pocket knife and it was too elegenat for a tactical like the Military. I also agree that the BM CQC7 is a great discontinued knife, especially because Benchmade's version was better than Emerson's IMHO.

I almost did! I sold mine, but I am glad to say they are going to a good collection! Sweet knives, smooth and sleek.
