Best overall pistol for my scenario?

Probably too late to change your mind,but you should think that if you ever use a gun for self defense it will be taken by the police. Should that happen do you want officer sticky-fingers carting off your custom 1911 .45? Buy a Glock 30SF and a Ruger MKII. The Glock 30 holds ten rounds ,which means it's legal in Ill-noise. I think you guys are confusing a serviceable side arm with a work of art.
 
An alternative is to carry a gun that is similar to the one he practices with. He can get a cheaper, reliable 1911 and carry that, and have that custom 1911 as his baby.
 
Thanks guys. I did end up picking up an XDs while this was being built, and is considering a government model 45.
