Best pattern for gents office/fruit/sausage/food

Of the choices listed I’d opt for the slimline trapper.

A couple of other options are a single-blade doctor’s pattern (arguably more “classy,” but not quite as efficient as a slicer) and a Victorinox Solo (not as classy, but great at slicing and spreading, and absolutely rust-proof).

Was that cut-out for the "Easy Open" done by you? Nice job!

Another vote for the Fantoni Dweller here: perfect blade geometry, high quality stainless steel, lightweight and beautiful.

My favourite Lag is a lockback version and much smaller than the usual 11 or 12 cm. this one in Horn from Fontenille-Pataud at 9cm is now lost :thumbsdown: but I still have two others ;)

Looks like he already made his choice but I'll second your thoughts on the small Laguiole, Will. The thin flat ground ss blade is easy to sharpen and makes quick work of peeling an apple, slicing a stick of salami or some cheese. 9cm is the size I prefer. Takes up minimum room in the pocket and plays the gents knife part very well.
Here's mine, French Walnut, 9cm and a real sweet knife.

I have settled on a gec 48 thanks to magizm7. Beautiful improved trapper in Blackwood. Now time to shop for more cheese and apples!
Let us know how it works out for you! It'll be hard to settle on just one you know!

The Bob Loveless “city knife” made by AG Russell I might be a perfect fit for you. Unfortunately they are no longer produced and can be difficult to find.

However, I think Fantoni still produces a very similar knife called the dweller which comes out of Italy.

You may realize the error, but the above City Knive was made by Lone Wolf Knives, not AG Russell. Russell sold them.
I miss Lone Wolf Knives. The original version, not the resurrection.

A knife I've contemplated many times but have yet to buy is the Moki Small Kronos.

My only critique after having it for about a year is the nail nick.
It's in the swedge and thus can't be very deep. It's just a little hard to use the nick that way.
Otherwise it's a home run all the way. It's easily one of my best pieces. It's a wicked slicer and would be great for food.

Very nice! I spent my current knife allotment on a Buckeye Burl S30V Buck 501 that I'm waiting on but that Moki was in my top three choices and remains high on the want list.

I've always loved lock backs and feel like they might be my targets this year.

MOKI is awesome. I agree with Pinemoon Pinemoon . Fit and finish is amazingly good.

We do all know that the OP has chosen his preference right? A - "Gec 48 thanks to magizm7". Of course we also all know that this is just the beginning for that poor, soon to be, lost & poorer soul :( :D

Lol, yeah this is nog going to be the only one. Already looking at laguioles.. nice summer vacation knife.

:)

Laguioles are beautiful. If you email Chambriard, they will send you a digital catalog. Some beautiful stuff in there. Mostly Le Thiers models but still...

Also, if you like gentleman type stuff here's something I recommend:

Step 1: Clear a couple of hours in your calendar.

Step 2: Wrap your wallet in an entire roll of duct tape.

Step 3: Click this link - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCppuObQHn8alCHGGVESilhA

I warned ya...:D

The Buck sounds nice.
I would encourage you to keep the Moki on your list. They are definitely a step up. I am struck by the "crispness" of mine. The lockup is extremely good, very solid with zero play. The VG-10 is pretty nice too. I'm also a big lockback fan. I will be getting another Moki LB very soon, a Clio in Damascus.

Haha, very true!

I’m a special education teacher at an elementary school and each day I cut up some apples for my kids. I have chosen A SAK Picnicker which does not freak out my students or other school staff. All in all I have found it to be very handy.View attachment 1284901
Good choice. I am also a teacher and it's nice to see another concerned with public perception. Kids these days are taught to fear knives in all forms, so special consideration should be made to the type of knife we expose them to. Keeps us out of trouble with the Admin too. ;)
