I want to start milling out integral bolsters on my slip joints and have been trying to find a good place to buy .135" thick (or thereabouts) 410 or possibly 416 stainless sheets. The cheapest I have found id $82 for a 12 x 12 sheet. Do you guys have a better price somewhere else?

Thanks!

Jared- Slice of Stainless.com, they've got it in all manner of thickness and will shear it any size you want.
416 is much easier to work with even though it only has sulpher added-- but good luck finding it in sheet
I don't believe they make it--possibly wider barstock but it won't be cheap. The 410 will be about 1/3 or
less compared to the 416.
Ken.

Thanks Ken. Slice of Stainless is where I found it at the best price but thought I'd check for any new or unfamiliar resource. I just compared their price on 410 at .040 thick and it was about 3 to 4 times what I would pay at usaknifemaker or the like. The thicker 410 gets pricey. And the 416 I figured would be a shot in the dark, but I tried.

Jared,

Did you price 2 square feet at Slice of Stainless? I am pretty sure the price per square foot drops dramatically. The first time I ordered from Slice I found a close by slipjoint maker and split the order;).

Ken

Thanks Ken. It drops dramatically the bigger the piece. I'm sure I'll use it eventually so I might as well grab the bigger piece.
