I'm thinking about starting to make a few knives for people other than myself for a bit. I showed the first knife I did to my father and he really liked how it came out. So I was thinking of making him a knife for his birthday. I was thinking of using a stainless since he won't have to worry about any upkeep with it. My last (and first
) knife was ATS-34 so I have an idea what it's like to work with. I'm thinking something in the 3/16 or 5/32 size and maybe will make some for other family members as well. I know Admiral carries it so does Texas knifemakers, but I remember some people complaining about the straightness of Admirals stainless. I was considering 154CM but I'm not that experienced yet and considering the it's a bit costlier I'd hate to waste it should I screw a piece up.
I have a fair amount of 1084 to work with however I still lack a forge and as a result will be farming out my HT's until I get myself one. I have a few blades (1084) I need to finish up and get ready to send out for HT. So I figure why not try and get a stainless one in there as well to go out with the rest of them.
So I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good source of ATS-34?
