I use an inconel sheathed K type thermocouple in my salt bath. I've got a couple more in the drawer (but can't find the damn connectors! lol)

Anyway... when Jim was here yesterday we had one that bit the dust. I decided I should have about 5 of them on hand... just in case. :)

Do you guys have a preferred source?

Nick, I've been buying mine off of fleabay. Now I just got to get a PID and other stuff to finish up my oven :p

Thanks guys :)

Will, I punched in "K thermocouple" and got almost 200 hits... looks like a good chance I'll find what I need!

Vern, I've got the PID controller, but that looks like a good place to get another one if I end up putting one on the forge. They also have a lot of thermocouples too... THANKS for the source! :)

Nick, while I can't speak for the comparative long term economy of buying cheaper probes more frequently, I find these Super OmegaClad probes from Omega last longer than an inconel sheath. They also have better high temp stability, which is a pitfall of cheaper probes. Note that they don't include a connector, which must be purchased separately.

Perfect Mike! THANK YOU! That looks much like the one I currently have in the salt. That sheathing sounds like the way to go. I'm going to call Omega and get a handful of those so I have them when needed. THANKS! :)
