What is the best retailer (as in cheapest pice while still not having to worry about counterfeits) to buy a spyderco PM2. I want to get a fully blacked out version.

Lots of very good dealers on the BF list. I have found good prices from KnifeWorks and BladeHQ with fast shipping and good communications.

Knives like this can be found on Amazon. I just bought a Military on there for a lower price than I saw anywhere else.

Amazon isn't a part of Bladeforums though, see that is the part that sucks. The vendors on the list noted above are small businesses. They are also part of the community, the are members and help keep this place open, they also support KnifeRights, an organization that fights to keep your ability to have a knife in your pocket a reality. Amazon doesn't give you that. They have killer prices on dog food though. It's easy, support the companies that support your hobbies. ;)

All of this is true, but it does not answer the question posed by the OP, which was the best retailer he could find the lowest price, while still making sure he got a genuine knife. I just got a brand new, genuine Spyderco Military from Amazon for $125.00. There could be somewhere cheaper, but I didn't find them. That's precisely what the OP was looking for.

I also just purchased a $750.00 knife from a local knife store, so I know the value of supporting small businesses.

Also, the only time I have even been screwed over on the purchase of a knife was from a now former forum supporter, and that includes many knife purchases from China that went smoothly.

Well OP did specify "cheapest price while still not having to worry about counterfeits." There are all kinds of vendors on Amazon . . . I very recently purchased a product off Amazon from a vendor with a CA address, who shipped me the wrong item which was mailed from China, and it took several weeks and many confusing emails with the vendor (who had a very "American" name but who clearly wasn't a native English speaker) before I finally got what I ordered - again mailed from China.

This is why I stay away from individual vendors and deal almost exclusively with Amazon itself.

I've gotten some sweet deals on knives there. A few of them have been priced lower new than many people here try to sell used ones for. Last year I got a Kershaw Leek for $22.00. I occasionally see Kershaws under their Daily Deals for really good prices.

Sure it did, any of the vendors on the list. They all sell authentic items, and not counterfeit Para 2 knives..

With Amazon, you definitely DO have to worry about counterfeits!

Unscrupulous customer buys a 'real' then returns a 'fake' which Amazon (unwittingly/uncaringly) puts back on the shelf to be passed onto the next customer.

That only answers half of the OP'S question. He also wanted to know the cheapest place. Since I just got a great price on a Spyderco from Amazon, that qualifies. If he decides he wants to support small businesses, cool, but he didn't ask for the names of forums supporters or small businesses.

I've bought a lot of knives from Amazon and never had a problem. The issue you mentioned could happen with any retailer that accepts returns.

I get it, everyone wants people to spend their knife money in certain places. I'll back out of this thread.

Oh well, all we can do is try. SHowing a list with abotu 30 different dealers so someone can shop on their own and do their own legwork doesn't cut it I guess. Can't make everyone happy all the time right. Too bad the point I was trying to make was missed by some.

Will Amazon check the knife for you before shipping it out? Can you call, talk to a live representative and get more information on the product if you have questions?

I get that they are a cheap source for a lot of different products, but they lack in the one-on-one customer service department.

 thank you

I've bought all 4 of mine off different forums. Just ask questions and photos before you buy.
